A biologist has called for a nationwide ban on breeding and selling man’s favorite talking birds in New Zealand


Hundreds of pet parrots flee from their owners in New Zealand every year, putting the island nation’s endemic birds, many of which are already endangered species, under a serious threat, a biologist has warned.

An average of 331 parrots escape or are deliberately released into the wild annually in the country, according to Dr. Margaret Stanley, an associate professor in biological studies at the University of Auckland.

The actual figure should be much higher than that as her statistics were only based on the lost birds that are reported by their owner, she added.

But even the conservative numbers are alarming, with simulations run by Stanley revealing a high chance of escaped parrots of the same species meeting in the wild and starting to reproduce.

“We looked at all the details on survivorship and lifespan for these species, and what we found was that for the seven species that we modeled, it was more than an 80% chance that a male-female pair were at large in the same local board area, at any given time,” the biologist told the Guardian.

The number was “even worse” and reached 100% for species like the Indian ring-necked parakeet and the Alexandrine parakeet as they could hybridize with each other, Stanley added.

Parrots might be cute and colorful creatures, but they could become a real menace for New Zealand’s unique birds, 40% of which are already considered endangered.

The uncontrolled breeding of the invasive species will eventually see them competing with local birds for food and nesting space, she explained. The parrots also carry diseases.

New Zealand’s fauna has already suffered immensely over time, thanks to the rabbits, rats, and possums brought into the country in the 19th century. Stanley and her colleagues are eager to prevent the parrots from doing even more damage.

The selling and breeding of several species of these exotic birds, including monk and ringneck parakeets, as well as rainbow lorikeets, will be banned in Auckland from September 1. It’s being done as part of the city’s pest management plan.

But Stanley insisted that it’s not enough: Breeders are already considering moving out of Auckland to go on with their business. The measure “is a little bit toothless if it’s not nationwide,” she argued, calling for parrots to be outlawed everywhere across the country.

WASHINGTON — The White House said Thursday that it stood by Dr. Anthony Fauci, the top medical adviser to President Biden, who has faced renewed attacks this week from conservatives over the extent to which the U.S. biomedical establishment funded potentially dangerous research into bat coronaviruses in Chinese laboratories.

Asked on Thursday by a Fox News reporter whether Fauci’s job was safe, despite new revelations, White House press secretary Jen Psaki responded curtly, with a single word: “Correct.”

Fauci has previously said that the National Institutes of Health and the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, of which he is the longtime head, did not allow Chinese laboratories to conduct gain-of-function research through American grants. Some people believe that such research, which boosts viruses in order to study their behavior, led to the creation of the pathogen known as SARS-CoV-2 at the Wuhan Institute of Virology or another laboratory sometime in late 2019.

The focus on Fauci this week is related to documents obtained through a Freedom of Information Act request and published by the investigative news site the Intercept. The documents included details of a $3.1 million 2014 grant to EcoHealth Alliance, a New York-based organization that has been the focus of intense scrutiny over its close partnership with China and because of the ardent rejections by its chief executive, Peter Daszak, of any suggestion that a scientific accident there may have caused the pandemic.

EcoHealth Alliance used $599,000 of the $3.1 million grant to fund a study into bat coronaviruses at the Wuhan Institute of Virology, which has itself been the focus of both conspiratorial and legitimate questions. Researchers there worked on a strain of coronavirus called WIV1, according to the Intercept.

Federal officials denied that the research conducted with U.S. funds in Wuhan met gain-of-function criteria. “NIH has never approved any research that would make a coronavirus more dangerous to humans,” an agency spokesperson told Yahoo News. “The research we supported in China, where coronaviruses are prevalent, sought to understand the behavior of coronaviruses circulating in bats that have the potential to cause widespread disease.”

The existence of WIV1 is hardly a secret, but the revelations in the Intercept’s reporting seem to challenge Fauci’s earlier statements that the U.S. biomedical establishment has never funded gain-of-function research in China. “This is a road map to the high-risk research that could have led to the current pandemic,” one researcher told the Intercept.

Still, there is no evidence that research into WIV1 led to the creation of SARS-CoV-2. Nor is there evidence that Fauci, who first gained renown in the 1980s during the HIV/AIDS epidemic, acted improperly or intentionally misrepresented U.S. partnerships.

Nevertheless, the Intercept revelations are sure to raise new questions, especially given signs that the pandemic may persist even into 2022. Peter Navarro, who served as a top aide of former President Donald Trump, often clashed with Fauci and, on Thursday, called the widely respected immunologist a “stone cold liar” on Twitter. “He belongs in an orange jumpsuit, not a lab coat,” Navarro opined.

Members of Congress, including House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., have lambasted Fauci and other scientists for misleading the public about the origins of the pandemic.

“These documents are a smoking gun that indicate he not only failed to be forthcoming, but that he also lied to the American people about his organization’s support for this risky research,” said Rep. Mike Gallagher, R-Wisc., who also called on Fauci to resign.

So did Sen. Josh Hawley, R-Mo., a potential presidential candidate in 2024, who, like McCarthy, said that Fauci should “face a congressional inquiry.”

Should Republicans retake either chamber of Congress in next year’s elections, they are all but certain to launch such inquiries, given how much animosity Fauci has inspired among conservatives.

The emails kept coming in… From farmers and students and chefs and academics whom I’d taken to that tiny island country over the past two decades to learn about her leadership in sustainable agriculture, cooperatives, and growing food in cities: What’s REALLY going on in Cuba?” they asked.

Yes, Cubans are feeling frustrated. Sixty years of an economic blockade by Washington, over 200 additional measures of economic strangulation by Trump, and now—for the past 17 months—a tourism economy shut down by COVID (now raging, thanks to the Delta variant) have plunged Cuba back to the dark days of the Special Period, when the Soviet Union collapsed and so too did Cuba’s economy. Except this time, Cubans who left government jobs for the hard currency lure of the tourism sector are out of work. People are feeling desperate.

Thanks to policy measures led by Raul Castro in 2011 that opened the country to small enterprise and cooperatives, Cuba’s economy pre-Trump and pre-COVID was flourishing, despite the punishing impact of the U.S. embargo.

Then came Trump. Then came COVID. Like a triple witching hour, investors long agitating to open socialist Cuba to capitalism began jingling in their pockets the coins of influence and paying very close attention.

Could Cuba’s current financial woes finally be the crack that lets the “capitalist light” come in? Could they get rid of this pesky and tenacious socialist government on their doorstep and open Cuba to investment? Well worth the cost of throwing some extra pesos to Cuban dissidents to go to the streets. Playing to international TV cameras with chants of “Down with the Dictator”.

Seriously? Anyone following Cuban politics knows why calling Cuban president Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez a dictator is absurd. His address to the nation (carried by BBC but not CBC) spoke eloquently to the false narrative being fed by global media.

Yes, in this difficult economy there are line ups for food. Are Cubans starving? No. Despite economic hardships, Cuba continues to look after her people and—through their Henry Reeves medical brigades—those of other nations.

The CNN reporter interviews protesters, then turns his camera to another group of Cubans, standing quietly on a corner with Cuban flags raised in defence of their country. They tell a different story, putting the blame for today’s hard times squarely on Washington.

“Yo soy Fidel (I am Fidel),” one man exclaims, a phrase embraced by Cubans on Fidel’s death in 2016 to express solidarity and respect for the ideals of the Cuban Revolution by saying Fidel lives within them. Shaking his head, the reporter closes with the comment: “One man even kept insisting to me that he was Fidel. “I am Fidel” he kept saying. But (with a half-smirk) everyone knows Fidel died in 2016. This is so-and-so for CNN in Havana…”

Tone deaf?

The Cubans I am speaking to on a weekly basis—although frustrated by a long lockdown and even tighter sanctions—know very well who is responsible for their country’s economic crisis. From Washington, U.S. president Joe Biden called Cuba a “failed state”. Ironic that.

Let’s be very clear: this battle has little to do with the Cuban people and all to do with how to run the economy. In the U.S., capitalism has a stranglehold on markets and communities. Rugged individualism is preached like a religion. We see how well that is working. In Cuba, state socialism charts a different course.

Choosing a socio-economic order is a sovereign matter between a nation and her people. Not investors from abroad.

It is time, Justin Trudeau, for Canada to show support for our friend Cuba, to stand shoulder to shoulder with this tiny Caribbean nation with whom we have shared strong diplomatic ties since 1946 and provide the important economic aid they so desperately need and so deeply deserve.

Shame on us if we do not…

On Friday, the Osun State Government, in a statement by its Commissioner for Information and Civic Orientation, Mrs Funke Egbemode, said seven persons had died of COVID-19 in the last two weeks, while 74 cases were recorded within the period.

Expressing concern over the nonchalant attitude of residents to safety protocols, Egbemode said it had become imperative for citizens to consciously take personal responsibility for their own safety because the third wave of the pandemic has berthed in the state.

According to the commissioner: “In the last two weeks, the state has recorded 74 cases with seven mortality. We can no longer afford to treat our protection with levity. We must wear masks religiously and avoid crowded spaces like a plague. It is becoming more obvious that our lives depend on how well we adhere to safety protocols.

“Osun’s daily coronavirus case tallies and mortality rate are becoming alarming. The effects of the virus keep getting worse by the day because our compliance level is deplorable and alarming. Our people need to take responsibility for their own safety, by ensuring that they take the COVID-19 test to be sure of their status, especially when they feel ill.

“Let us leave no chance for costly assumptions and be deliberate about boosting our immunity. Partying and appearances at densely-populated locations has become dangerous all over. We are back to ground zero with the virus, and we cannot continue to pretend like it doesn’t exist. The current statistics signal a precarious situation.”

Data available on the website of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control on Friday showed that 753 new confirmed cases and five deaths were recorded on August 12, 2021 in 14 states, namely Lagos (364), Akwa Ibom (141), Oyo (74), Rivers (46), Abia (38), Ogun (24), Kwara (20), Imo (19), FCT (12), Ekiti (10), Delta (nine), Edo (six), Plateau (five), and Bayelsa (one).

As if the country today, 180,661 cases have been confirmed and 2,200 deaths have been recorded in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

They eat almost anything even fellow insects. Hair, books, sweets, meat anything- they will eat.


They are attracted to human food.

They vomit on the food.

They defecate on the food.


Absolutely disgusting animals.


Some young cockroaches have been documented to crawl over sleeping human beings and crawl inside the ears, noses, and even open mouths.


So if you have cockroaches in your house and you sleep sometimes with your mouth open and drooling, a cockroach can scroll in for a kiss.😔


Cockroaches have been known to spread at least 33 kinds of bacteria, including E. coli and Salmonella, six parasitic worms and more than seven other types of human pathogens.


E. coli and Salmonella for example are classic causes of serious food poisoning, typhoid and diarrhea.


So what to do?

Prevent the environment that helps them thrive. That’s the main answer.


Keep your cupboards, sinks, tables and floors clean and free of dirty plates, unused utensils and old newspapers.


Clean your dishes, food crumbs and oil spills right away once you cook.


*Always store your food in airtight containers, and never leave your food out (even if it is pet food!).*


*Storing up food in nylon bags and sacks like garri and rice is NOT the best for you. These idiots can eat through the sack and ruin that food for you.*


*Don’t risk it at all.*


Seal cracks and gaps in walls, floors and openings around or inside cabinets.


Also make sure that you seal gaps around pipes, plumbing, wall outlets, and spaces under the doors to your house and kitchen.


From time to time, run hot water in spare bathrooms and little used sinks.


Always check your bag and your children's school bags when they return home, as well as your shopping items before storing them.


If despite all these measures, you still have a cockroach problem at home, contact a pest professional for assistance with elimination and prevention.


Smack with a broom.

Squash with slippers.

Boil in hot water.

Spray with an insecticide.

Kill with a gun.😂😂


Use whatever means you can.

But don’t ever ignore.


One cockroach can produce up to 1,000 new ones in a year to torment your life.

Prevent the environment that helps them thrive. That’s the main answer.


Keep your cupboards, sinks, tables and floors clean and free of dirty plates, unused utensils and old newspapers.


Clean your dishes, food crumbs and oil spills right away once you cook.


*Always store your food in airtight containers, and never leave your food out (even if it is pet food!).*


*Storing up food in nylon bags and sacks like garri and rice is NOT the best for you. These idiots can eat through the sack and ruin that food for you.*


*Don’t risk it at all.*


Seal cracks and gaps in walls, floors and openings around or inside cabinets.


Also make sure that you seal gaps around pipes, plumbing, wall outlets, and spaces under the doors to your house and kitchen.


From time to time, run hot water in spare bathrooms and little used sinks.


Always check your bag and your children's school bags when they return home, as well as your shopping items before storing them.


If despite all these measures, you still have a cockroach problem at home, contact a pest professional for assistance with elimination and prevention.

The Federal Ministry of Health through the Nigeria Centre Disease Control (NCDC) has recently alerted the country of the confirmation of the virulent Delta variant of SARS Cov-2 in the country. 



The Delta variant is recognised by the World Health Organization (WHO) as a variant of concern, given its increased transmissibility. It has been detected in over 90 countries and is expected to spread to more countries. It has also been linked to a surge in cases in countries where it is the dominant strain in circulation.


NCDC has also announced increase in the number of cases being recorded in the country in the last one week. Over 120 cases daily were recorded by NCDC in the last 48 hours as opposed to less than 50 before now. Over 60% of these are from neighboring states such as Lagos.


Ogun State has experienced a gradual rise in cases with 15 new cases in the last two weeks compared to two cases in the whole month of June 2021 while four persons are currently being managed in the isolation Centre that have been empty in the last one month. Also we have recorded two new deaths in the last three weeks.  


Given that our many lands cross one another, and the fact that eight of our local government areas (LGAs) share boarder with Lagos State with a major international airport and the highly mobile community between them, it becomes pertinent to proactively curtail the spread of COVID-19 virus among our people.


While NCDC is currently working frantically to ensure surveillance of the variants in the country, Ogun State Government is re-energizing her response team at State and LGA level for prompt and effective response. Risk communication is being embarked upon at community level through the LGA rapid response team.  We are working with the Federal Port Health Authority to ensure passengers are screened at the land crossings in the State.  Infection, Prevention and Control (IPC) focal persons in our health facilities have been alerted to step up IPC measures while we have deployed Rapid test Kits to major secondary and tertiary Health facilities to test patients who are to undergo surgeries, patients with symptoms suggestive of COVID 19 and persons who want to know their status. 


We are also embarking on mobilization for test at our five-high burdened LGAs (Abeokuta South, Ado-Odo/Ota, Ikenne, Obafemi Owode and Sagamu).


We urge all Ogun State residents to ensure strict adherence to public health and social measures in place.


 Proven public health and social measures such as physical distancing, frequent hand washing, and proper use of face masks, prevent infections and save lives.

 

We enjoin our community leaders, religious leaders, media houses and other stake holders to join hands with the State Government to encourage strict compliance to proper hand washing. Regular and correct use of face mask, two meters physical distancing in public places and avoid crowded gatherings.

The anti-COVID candidate vaccine (CIGB-66) made by the Cuban  scientists is being distributed in the country’s provinces where intervention trials began this week, according to various reports.


According to a report, Workers at Emcomed, Cuba’s state enterprise medical supplier, are responsible for distributing the Abdala candidate vaccine (CIGB-66) to several of the country’s provinces, where intervention trials began yesterday.

As reported on Twitter by the Cuban Biotechnology and Pharmaceutical Industry Enterprise Group (BioCubaFarma), doses of the vaccine developed by the Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology Center in Havana, have been delivered to pharmaceutical distributors in Sancti Spiritus, Ciego de Avila, Camagüey, Las Tunas and Holguín.


BioCubaFarma CEO, Eduardo Martínez Díaz, tweeted a message reporting that more than 29,000 doses of the Cuban candidate vaccine Abdala are in storage in Pinar del Río, ready for distribution to 26 vaccination centers there, while in Artemisa, preparations are underway to deliver needed doses to vaccination sites in neighborhood participating in the intervention.

The newspaper Victoria on the Isle of Youth, also reported the arrival of the immunogen, and according to Dr. Victor Doeste Hernandez, coordinator of the municipal commission for the intervention in which a total of 48,664 individuals will participate.

In the capital, this candidate vaccine will be administered in the municipalities of San Miguel del Padrón, La Habana del Este, Guanabacoa and Regla.

While, more than 19,000 at risk subjects, including medical and paramedical personnel and medical students who have been on the front lines battling the pandemic for more than a year, will be vaccinated in Ciego de Avila with Abdala, a process which began yesterday in that province.

In Holguin, where the intervention will include more 49,660 residents, administration of Abdala has begun among health workers.

Paraphrasing José Martí, it is clear that, in the powerful, robust arms of the homeland’s children, Abdala is being brandished like a mighty sword, because in Cuba, as we defend ourselves and advance, there is nothing more important than life.

Researchers at the University of Oxford say Covid-19 leads to a risk of rare blood clots that's several-times higher than that of current vaccines, amid concerns that the jabs may be to blame for the potentially deadly condition.

The report released on Thursday says the risk of the rare condition known as cerebral venous thrombosis (CVT) following Covid-19 infection is “around 100 times greater than normal” and “several times higher” than it is post-vaccination or after flu.

Researchers looked at health records of 500,000 Covid-19 patients to estimate the absolute incidence of CVT in the two weeks following Covid-19 diagnosis, flu, or vaccination against coronavirus. They found that clotting is around eight times more likely to occur after contracting Covid-19 than after immunization with the AZ-Oxford Covid-19 vaccine. Compared to the vaccines made by Pfizer or Moderna, the risk of a CVT from Covid-19 is about 10 times greater.

The researchers, however, call for a cautious interpretation of the comparisons since data is still coming in.

“There are concerns about possible associations between vaccines, and CVT, causing governments and regulators to restrict the use of certain vaccines. Yet, one key question remained unknown: ‘What is the risk of CVT following a diagnosis of Covid-19?’” says Professor of Psychiatry and Head of the Translational Neurobiology Group at the University of Oxford Paul Harrison.


Some countries have restricted the use of the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine – which was renamed Vaxzevria – to certain age groups after the European Medicines Agency confirmed the vaccine’s possible links to cases of blood clotting, several of which were fatal. Denmark halted the use of the jab altogether.

Meanwhile, another EMA-approved vaccine, Johnson & Johnson's, is being investigated in the US and Europe following cases of blood clotting and at least one death.

Both vaccines are based on a similar method, known as adenoviral vectors. Regulators and researchers are working to find out whether the incidences of blood clotting are caused by an immune response to the adenovirus vaccines.

(AP) The Iran's campaign to inoculate its population against the coronavirus and promote itself as an emerging vaccine manufacturer inched on as health authorities announced Tuesday that the country's third homegrown vaccine has reached the phase of clinical trials.


Details about its production, however, remained slim.


Although Iran, with a population of more than 80 million, has so far imported foreign vaccines from Russia, China, India and Cuba to cover over 1.2 million people, concerns over its lagging pace of vaccinations have animated Iran's drive to develop locally produced vaccines as wealthier nations snap up the lion’s share of vaccine doses worldwide.


Iranian scientists, like elsewhere in the world, are rushing to condense the typically yearslong process to develop vaccines into a few months — a task that has acquired urgency as the country struggles to stem the worst virus outbreak in the Middle East and its economy reels from harsh American sanctions.

But details are scant about the Islamic Republic's vaccine production efforts. Two other Iranian vaccines are also in the phase of clinical trials, with the most advanced, called Barekat, tested on 300 people so far.


The government said 20,000 volunteers in the capital of Tehran and other cities will soon receive Iran's new vaccine, called Fakhra, which an official described to state-run media as being “100% safe,” without providing any evidence or data to support the claim. Earlier this week, the government launched a vaccine production factory it claims can make 3 million doses a day.


The vaccine introduced Tuesday on state TV was created by an affiliate of Iran's Defense Ministry, known as the Research and Innovation Organization.


Like with the Barekat vaccine still in the initial phase of clinical trials, the company used inactivated coronaviruses from 35,000 samples to make the new vaccine, a traditional technology based on cultivating batches of the virus and then killing it. By comparison, Western drug manufacturers are taking a newer gene-based approach to target the spikes on the outer structure of the coronavirus, a method that had never been approved for widespread use before.


Iran's fragmented approach to domestic vaccine production, with entities ranging from state-owned pharmaceutical conglomerates to the Defense Ministry working separately on at least six different vaccines, reflect the country's wider factional rivalries and competing power structures.


At a ceremony attended by high-ranking officials in Tehran on Tuesday, Iranian state TV broadcast footage of just a single volunteer receiving the Fakhra vaccine, named after chief Iranian nuclear scientist Mohsen Fakhrizadeh, who was killed in a November attack that Iran blamed on Israel.



While Fakhrizadeh was known to lead the country's disbanded nuclear weapons program in the early 2000s, Iran has eulogized him as a leader of country's domestic coronavirus vaccine development drive. Fakhrizadeh's son was the first to receive the jab of the new vaccine.


The coronavirus has infected more than 1.7 million people in Iran and killed 61,427, according to health ministry figures released Tuesday — the highest death toll in the Middle East.


Iran formally launched its limited vaccination campaign last month, doling out Russia's Sputnik V vaccine to health workers and those with chronic health conditions. Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has banned Iran from importing American and British vaccines, a reflection of its deep-rooted mistrust of the West.


Nonetheless, Iran later said it would receive 4.2 million doses of the vaccine developed by Oxford University and U.K.-based drugmaker AstraZeneca through the global COVAX initiative, which was created to ensure that low- and middle-income countries have fair access to vaccines.


The Health Ministry has vowed to vaccinate all adults in the country by late September, although how the government will reach that ambitious goal remains uncertain. Iran says it expects to import doses for over 16 million people from COVAX.


The government has alleged that tough American sanctions imposed by former President Donald Trump in 2018 undermine efforts to purchase foreign-made vaccines and roll out mass inoculation campaigns like those making headway in the U.S. and Europe. Although international banks and financial institutions often hesitate in dealing with Iranian transactions for fear of being fined or locked out of the American market , U.S. sanctions do have specific carve-outs for medicine and humanitarian aid to Iran.

The WHO team is set to present its findings at a news conference that begins at 08.00 GMT at the Hilton Optics Valley Hotel in Wuhan.

During their visit to Wuhan, which was the world’s first COVID-19 hotspot, WHO experts toured the Wuhan Institute of Virology and the Huanan market where the first known cases were identified.

The team also visited a hospital where the first COVID-19 patients were treated.

Participants in the WHO visit spent 14 days in quarantine upon their arrival in the Chinese city one month ago.

Vladimir Dedkov, a Russian expert participating in the WHO mission, said this past week that it was unlikely the disease could have spread from Wuhan’s virology institute.

Human rights lawyer, Mr. Femi Falana (SAN), says he has received instructions from Sahara Reporters Publisher, Omoyele Sowore, to sue the Nigeria Police Force and its officers for torture.


The senior advocate said this in a message sent to our correspondent on Saturday.


Falana said his client was badly beaten and subjected to dehumanising conditions in contravention of the Anti-Torture Act.


“Since Mr. Sowore’s fundamental right to dignity has been recklessly violated by the police we have his instructions to press for charges against all the officers who subjected him to physical and mental torture in contravention of the letter and spirit of the provisions of the Anti Torture Act of 2017,” he said.


He said from indications, the Nigeria Police Force is waiting for “orders from above” before releasing Sowore.


“Order from above” is a common term used in Nigeria to refer to a superior authority.


He said the police were holding his client for alleged breach of COVID-19 protocols but had denied him bail for two consecutive days even though the law says such offences are bailable.


Falana further stated that his client had pointedly told the police that he had not breached COVID-19 protocols.


The activist said, “Mr. Sowore who was covering an event at the time of his arrest has maintained that he did not breach any of the COVID-19 regulations. He has been detained indefinitely on the basis of orders “from above.”


The lawyer said his client had been tortured and locked up in a detention facility along with armed robbery suspects.


Falana added, “The police officers who arrested Mr. Omoyele Sowore at Abuja on January 31, 2020, subjected him to severe beating and left him with bruises all over his body. As if that was not enough he has been locked up in the midst of armed robbery suspects at a notorious detention facility called abattoir maintained by the disbanded Special Anti Robbery Squad in Abuja.


“The physical torture to Mr. Sowore was prolonged by the refusal of the police to provide him with medical attention. Although Mr. Sowore’s injuries are being treated by his personal physician, the police authorities have refused the application of the detainee for bail even though the alleged offence of breaching COVID-19 regulations is ‘bailable’.

Argentina on Tuesday launched a Covid-19 vaccination campaign with the Sputnik V shots developed by Russia, the government said. The first country in the Americas to use Russian made vaccine against the pandemic.

The vaccination drive began simultaneously around the country with frontline healthcare workers given priority, Health Minister Gines Gonzalez Garcia said. She spoke at Posadas Hospital in Buenos Aires, where a doctor named Flavia Loiacono became the first in the country to get a Covid shot.


Argentina is now the fourth country in Latin American to launch a vaccination campaign, after Mexico, Costa Rica and Chile. "We are going to have to keep taking care of ourselves. It will take a few months for the vaccine to have a widespread effect," the minister said.

A first shipment of 300,000 doses of the Russian product arrived here on Christmas Eve. It requires people to get two shots.

Another 19.7 million doses are supposed to be delivered in January and February. Argentina has also signed an agreement to obtain doses of the vaccine developed by Oxford University and AstraZeneca, and is negotiating with Pfizer-BioNTech.


The pandemic has killed nearly 43,000 people in Argentina.

EU approves first coronavirus vaccine


US President-elect @JoeBiden received his first dose of the Pfizer-BioNTech coronavirus vaccine on live TV Monday, hoping it shows Americans there’s “nothing to worry about” once they get the chance to get vaccinated.

According to AFP, Biden received a Covid-19 vaccine live on televisio in a campaign to boost Americans' confidence in the jabs. The 78-year-old got the Pfizer vaccine at the Christiana Hospital in Delaware.


Biden said "there's nothing to worry about" when getting the shot. He was vaccinated in a photo-op at a hospital in Delaware on Monday afternoon, as his wife Jill looked on.


Meanwhile, in Africa, the Nigeria's federal government on Monday approved new measures to curb the further spread of COVID-19 in Nigeria.


According to the chairman of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19, Boss Mustapha, speaking at a press briefing of the task force in Abuja ordered the closure of all clubs, bars and restaurants.

Nigerian authorities also restricted number of guests at weddings , conference to 59 as new strain of Coronavirus hits the country.

“Accordingly, His Excellency, Muhammadu Buhari, President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria has authorised the PTF to engage with the states and the FCT to assume full ownership of this stage of the response by deploying legal structures and resources, including enforcement to manage the pandemic within their jurisdictions.

The measure will be for the next five weeks as Nigeria hopes to curb the spread of Coronavirus. “ All bars, night clubs, pubs and event centres, and recreational venues should be closed.  All restaurants to be closed except those providing services to hotel residents; takeaways, home deliveries and drive-ins shall remain closed.” Mustapha added.

Also the government ordered that gatherings linked to religious events should be less than 50% capacity of the facility.

The EU has finally gave the green light for the Pfizer-BioNTech coronavirus vaccine on Monday, paving the way for the first inoculations to start across 27 countries just days after Christmas. AFP reported.

According to the report, the decision was rushed through under pressure from European governments after Britain and the United States authorised the jab weeks earlier. The European Medicines Agency recommended the vaccine developed by US pharma giant Pfizer and German firm BioNTech for use, and the European Commission formally approved it hours later.

The EMA added that the vaccine would "very likely" be effective against a new strain of the disease spreading through Britain.

European Commission chief Ursula von der Leyen said vaccinations would start across the EU on December 27, adding that the vaccine was a "true European success story".

"This is a very good way to end this difficult year and finally start turning the page on Covid-19," von der Leyen said in Brussels.

German Health Minister Jens Spahn said the decision allowed a "road out of the crisis" while Italian Health Minister Roberto Speranza said the EMA decision "is the news we have been waiting for".

- 'Historic scientific achievement' -

The Amsterdam-based EMA, the drugs watchdog for the 27-nation EU, had moved the decision forward from December 29 under pressure from EU governments, particularly Berlin.

"It is a significant step forward in the fight against this pandemic that is causing suffering and hardship," EMA chief Emer Cooke told an online press conference as she announced the decision to recommend the vaccine.

"This is really a historic scientific achievement, within less than a year a vaccine will have been developed and authorised against this disease."

The urgency surrounding the virus has increased with the news that a fast-spreading variant is sweeping Britain, prompting a growing number of countries worldwide to suspend flights from the UK.

But EMA officials said they believed the Pfizer-BioNTech jab would be effective against it.

"At this moment there is no evidence to suggest this vaccine will not work against the new variant," Cooke said.

The EMA's head of vaccine strategy, Marco Cavaleri, added that while they were waiting for more data "for the time being we are not too worried".

"It is very likely that the vaccine will retain protection also against this new variant," he said.

"What would scare us is if we see multiple mutations", particularly on the "spike" that the virus uses to enter human cells, but those had not been seen yet, Cavaleri added.

- 'Cause for concern' -

The EMA said it took longer than Britain -- the former home of the agency -- and the US because they used a special, short-term emergency authorisation.

The "conditional marketing authorisation" issued on Monday however lasts for one year and required more rigorous testing, it said.

The EMA also had to contend with a cyberattack in which data from the Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna vaccines was stolen.

Cooke said the agency had "worked night and day" to speed things up, but needed to make sure the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine was safe and effective, in order to avoid any doubts that could affect uptake.

"We know very well that the speed at which these vaccines were developed and authorised is a cause of concern for many Europeans," said Harald Enzmann, chairman of the EMA committee that took the final decision.

But he said the authorisation followed "one of the largest trials we have ever evaluated for a vaccine" and that it "met the standards for robustness and quality that we have set out".

The authorisation is for over-16s only and says that the vaccine should be given to pregnant women on a case by case basis, the EMA said.

Following a "small number" of reports of allergic reactions in Britain and the United States, the EMA had recommended that people should be kept under "close observation" for 15 minutes after vaccination.

A European decision on another vaccine, produced by US firm Moderna, is due by January 6.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson on Saturday announced a new four-week coronavirus lockdown across England, a dramatic shift in strategy following warnings hospitals would become overwhelmed within weeks under his current system of localised restrictions.

Under the stringent new rules set to come into force from Thursday, people must stay at home except in cases where exemptions apply, such as for work, education or exercise, while all but essential shops will close.

In contrast to the months-long UK-wide lockdown earlier this year, schools, colleges and universities will remain open.

But pubs and restaurants will shut unless serving takeaway food, while all leisure and entertainment venues and non-essential shops will close.


The restrictions are planned to end on December 2.

"Now is the time to take action because there's no alternative," Johnson said at a Downing Street news conference after convening his Cabinet earlier in the day to sign off on the plan.

"We have got to be humble in the face of nature. In this country, alas, as in much of Europe, the virus is spreading even faster than the reasonable worst-case scenario of our scientific advisers," he added.

The British premier will set out the new measures, which include extending a financial support scheme to help businesses pay furloughed employees for an additional month to December, to parliament on Monday.

Lawmakers will then vote on them on Wednesday.

The ramped-up response came as Britain surpassed one million cases during the global pandemic, after announcing nearly 22,000 new infections on Saturday, and virus hospitalisations climbed by 1,239, the highest daily tally since late April.

Akinbo was very jittery, he knew the death toll was coming for him soon. He was alone in the house and didn’t know what to do.

How was he going to explain the death of his friend in his house? He could tell as a lawyer that the case could swing against him...

“ MY CCTV!” It clicked

“ Thank God!” He looked up at the CCTV in his living room.

He brought out his phone and placed a call to the D.P.O in his environment...

“ D.P.O... I need your help... A friend of mine lost his wife and owes me a lot of money. He came to my house to give me the papers for one of his property to settle his debt. He asked to use the restroom and after five minutes of not hearing his voice, I went in and found him dead on the floor with his tongue out! Obviously he committed suicide!”

“ He is dead?”

“ Yes!”

“ Ok, just leave him in that position he is, I will send a team to your place right away.”

As Akinbo waited for the police team, he had time to reflect. He looked at the papers of the Property...

“ Really? So when I die, my property will be used by someone else!” Akinbo’s tears flowed at the realization that his friend and wife died over a property he convinced them not to give to the Lord...

“ God, I am sorry... Please forgive me... I am not trying to bribe you but I will give the Lighthouse this property, pay Akanbi’s debt on behalf of Fred and I will give this Lighthouse people 1 million extra.” Akinbo said on his knees.

Joy and Nneka successfully hid themselves under the staircase as the boys were in hot pursuit of them.

“ I caught one!” Tunde said

Tunde had covered one of the rats with a transparent bowl...

“ Please don’t kill her!” Samuel said as he saw the rat was Grace...

“ You like rats?” Tunde said

“ No, I am against killing anything that has life in it. Let’s go throw it outside the compound...”

“ No way! It will find its way back in here and breed more rats!” Tunde replied

Samuel pushed Tunde back allowing the rat to escape...

“ Why did you do that?” Tunde asked wide-eyed.

“ Samuel doesn’t like killing anything with life in it...” Musu defended quickly.

“ Help!” One of the girls screamed from the room where Tunrayo laid on the floor with blood gushing out of her mouth...

People rushed into the room... Samuel peeped and saw what happened ... He looked around and ran towards where the rat had gone...

“ Samuel...Samuel!” Samuel heard his name from under the staircase

He went back and saw Joy and Nneka...

“ What happened?”

“ I killed Akanbi but I guess they have brought him back to life and Akanbi knows too much about Shally and I.”

“ So you want us all to leave!”

“ Except Tunrayo!”

“ I think she is dead”

“ Really? That means the four of you can stay behind...! Akanbi only knows Shally and me, Tunrayo who could have been a problem is dead. So blame Tunrayo’s death on us. Nneka, tell them Shally and I got into a fight with Tunrayo and one of us pushed her to the floor. On seeing that she died, we ran away.”

“ Good story! “Nneka said

“ Yes, we can’t afford to fail!” Joy replied

“ Where are Grace and Shally? We need to let them know...!” Samuel said

“ I will sort that out!” Joy said sneaking out of where they were. The rat went looking for the two others.

Akanbi had been placed on the bed in the Sickbay which was called the Healing Bay at the Lighthouse...

They heard the scream of “Help”. The trio looked at each other. They were about to run towards the scream...

“ It could be a distraction! Please stay with him.!” Chuks said to Favour...

Favour nodded and sat on the chair beside Akanbi. Akanbi was awake but very weak.

Favour couldn’t believe she almost lost Akanbi Damino...

“ God, Forgive me, I promise never to disobey you but what were you saying about the man you want me to marry. Is it Akanbi or SHOLA?”

Simultaneously Akanbi’s phone rang... it was Shola calling... Favour saw the caller ID.

“ SHOLA? God, Is that your answer?” Favour asked very confused...

Favour could hear laughter...

“ God, you smiled! That means you have forgiven me?” Favour said feeling relaxed for the first time.

“ Yes... You want to know the person? Fix the puzzle!” The voice replied

Favour started laughing...

The phone rang again, this time the caller ID was “ ROPO!”

Favour thought about it that Ropo was the main reason they got to speak about Akanbi Damino that day. Tina had told them Ropo Damino had a strong influence on youths and they needed to win him over to God, but there was a strong hinderance which was his father. Tina had told them Akanbi was an unconscious sperm donator. Favour remembered suggesting they focused on Akanbi Damino instead. They were discussing how to disarm Akanbi when he invaded their office spiritually. Favour smiled at all that happened in a few days...

“ God, you are my pillar... I rest on you. I don’t know how I am going to fix this puzzle, but I know you will help me...”

“ I want to truly give my life to Christ and live the remaining days to serve God just like my first wife wanted. Can you help me achieve that? “ Akanbi managed to say.

Those words felt like a proposal in Favour’s ears, it felt like Akanbi was asking her to take the place of his dead wife to become the new wife or was she overthinking his words?

Favour rose up carefully, as Chuks rushed towards Akanbi...

“ No, Lord please! Please Lord, Have Mercy on him, you didn’t bring him here to kill him. Whatever error he has committed, Let Mercy Speak for him.” Chuks cried unto the Lord.

Chuks suspected God slaughtered him for whatever wickedness he must have done against Favour...

Favour walked close to Akanbi’s dead body. She was numb...

“ Was Akanbi meant to be her husband? God killed him to punish her?” Favour didn’t understand that complexity...

She was lost for words. She sat beside Akanbi’s body in tears... Her lips felt heavy, Her heart was heavy as well. She couldn’t even ask for Mercy, she was just overwhelmed by What was happening...

Tina moved around thinking on what to do... She loved discerning What God wanted of her...

“ Mercy!” Tina heard in her Spirit

“ Favour, look at me... I don’t know what is going on in your mind, but look into my eyes and listen... What we need is the Mercy of God.”

“ He is the dead!” Favour managed to say. She couldn’t tell why she in deep sorrow; was it because She lost a soul or she lost the man who ought to be her husband...

Chuks was also heartbroken; He couldn’t comprehend why a new convert would die under his watch.

Tina realized she was the only person who was in the right frame of mind...

“ God, what is happening? “

Tina saw a flash of arrows targeted at Favour but Akanbi stood in front of Favour and took the arrows...

Tina knew it didn’t make sense telling Favour what she saw, instead she walked to Where Akanbi laid on the floor...

“ Arrow of death Fired against you from the Pit of Hell, backfire in the name of Jesus “ Tina prayed laying her hand on Akanbi’s stomach.

On touching Akanbi’s stomach, Tina withdrew her hand immediately as his stomach was blazing hot.

“ Poison!” Favour heard and she voiced it out immediately to Tina...

“ Poison! I heard Poison!”

“ Obviously! You should touch his stomach...” Tina said

Chuks and Favour touched the stomach in turns. They withdrew their hands immediately...

“ This is no ordinary poison! This must be a Spiritual poison! Who poisoned him ?” Chuks said

Favour was quiet, she didn’t know what to think. Was it God who put the Spiritual poison as a punishment for her or was the Spiritual poison an attack she could have knocked off with the prayers?

Chuks got mad in the Spirit... Likewise Tina knew the attack was familiar... But she couldn’t place her hand on it...

“Favour, you can’t go weak on me... You have more Spiritual power than us... You have the authority to bring back Akanbi...” Tina said

Favour looked at Tina, she couldn’t stop her tears. How could she tell them that God had spoken to her... How could she tell them her disobedience had caused Akanbi’s death. How could she tell them,God had spoken!

“ It’s too late!” Favour managed to say

“ Too late?” Tina asked “ Favour, what do you know that you are not saying to me! Did God say it is over!”

“ Hun Hun!” Favour said quietly....

Tina sat on the floor... Chuks sat on the chair. It all still looked like a dream. He remembered Akanbi kneeling before him a while ago...

“ When God Says No at a time, He can still say Yes minutes later. He told Abraham to slaughter his son, and in few minutes He told him not to. He said Hezekiah would die, but not less than an hour, He changed his mind!” Gambo said from the doorway...

Gambo, Chuks’ adopted daughter had been looking around for Chuks. She had silently witnessed all that happened...

“ You taught me that! Don’t you think God can change his mind and Wake him up.....”Gambo said

Chuks looked at Gambo and thought about how many times he had died. God’s Mercy could do all things...

Chuks stood up from the chair he was seated, he walked towards Akanbi and said...

“ God, I am a living testimony of your Mercy. I don’t know what Akanbi did for him to be poisoned but Mercy Lord....” Chuks laid on the floor...

“ Jesus! Please plead on his behalf...I know he has given his life to you, but it is not enough, if he has used 30 years to go against you, give him another 30 years to stand for you!” Chuks continued....

Kenneth was staying in Favour’s office, waiting for Favour who was called out by Chuks. His Wife, Mercy had gone in to meet some of the girls in the Lighthouse.

Kenneth couldn’t stop thinking about MR Akanbi Damino...

He suddenly had a feeling Akanbi won’t fulfil his promise...

“ God, please in your Mercy, Help Akanbi Damino to fulfil his Promise to the Lighthouse. Whatever that Might want to hinder him from giving to the Lord, Please take it away from His life. He will not fall sick and He won’t die. Father, you know the Lighthouse needs a property to build a school that will be a place to reform lives. Help him to fulfil his promise unlike the Man Who promised us earlier...” Kenneth spoke to the Lord unknown to him what was going on....

Chuks also caught the Light of that revelation where he knelt praying to the Lord. He remembered Dorcas who died and based on the goodwill she had done, people interceded for her...

“ God, if not for anything, remember what Akanbi Damino was about to do for Lighthouse. Please, just like Hezekiah presented his good works before you, just like the people presented Dorcas’ giving before you, please Lord, I present Akanbi’s good intention of giving the Lighthouse a property. Bring him back to life that he might fulfil this promise...” Chuks said Loudly....

Favour was taken aback by that... She didn’t know about Akanbi wanting to give them a property...

“ He wanted to give us a property?” Favour asked

The Angel of Death stood by Akanbi ready to take him away, but she saw Favour, Tina and Chuks protecting him...

“ I need to take him!” The Angel of Death said

“ He can’t leave! “ Favour replied

The Angel looked up suddenly.... She heard a command

“ Replace him with the one who refused to give her property! His giving has given him back his life!” A LOUD VOICE THUNDERED

The Angel bowed at the voice... and looked at Favour...

“ Give him a glass cup of Water and Salt!”

“ How can I give a dead man water...!”

“ Just do as I have said! Peace!” The Angel disappeared

Favour saw it .... She snapped out of her revelation....

“Get me Salt and Clean Water” Favour said to Tina but Gambo ran off to get it....

Bolaji felt a strong presence in her room...

“ Who is there?”

“ What Shall it profit a man if he gains the whole world and loses his soul!” A voice said to BOLAJI

“ Nurse! “ BOLAJI tried to call out but her voice was going no where....

“ Where is the money you were trying to keep by not giving your property to the Lighthouse?” The voice asked again

“ I have spent all on my sickness!”

Silence.....

BOLAJI felt chills in her spine... Something terrible was about to happen to her and she knew it...

“ God, Forgive me... Please I am sorry for being selfish with my resources, it’s because of the humble beginning I had while growing. I always want to keep and hoard everything. Forgive me, please don’t let me die!” Bolaji said soberly.

Ife entered the hospital ward...

" Mummy...Daddy says he doesn't have money to send anymore. He said the cash he borrowed from Lawyer Akinbo is finished.”

Ife noticed her mother didn't make her usual sound that recently had become her language of communication.

That means if I eventually sell the house, I will have nothing left because I will pay Akanbi's debt and Akinbo's debt... " Fred had tears streaming down his face...

“ We will need to bring back Bolaji’s corpse back home!” Fred thought of the expenses involved ....

" Bolaji is dead?" Akinbo asked on seeing how his friend looked. Fred had gone to Akinbo’s house. He had a large brown envelope in his hands.

" Hmmm....are you sure it's not the property thing that got God angry...?" Akinbo said in fear. He remembered he was the one who discouraged him. As a result, He became scared the death might come to him soon.

" It's too late...I am in debt. That's why I came here. These are the papers for the property. Sell it, and use the proceeds to pay Akanbi Damino and You!" Fred said and held his stomach.

" Arrhgg... !" Fred groaned

" What's wrong?"

" Can I use your rest room?"

" Sure, do you need my permission?" Akinbo said

Fred stood up and went into the guest toilet. Akinbo sat on his dining table thinking deep about the error he committed. He was so lost in thought he didn't realise five minutes had passed by....

" Fred! Why is it taking you forever...that is a sign of anxiety. You need to get to the hospital for a proper check up. What I am thinking is that, you can give the house to the Lighthouse and together we will find a way of settling Akanbi's debt or what do you think?" Akinbo said but, a big thud was the answer he got from the toilet.

Akinbo rushed towards the door...

" Fred! Fred!...Open up!" Akinbo said but Fred had locked up.

Akinbo forced the door open.

Fred laid on the floor dead with his tongue out!

" Jesus!" Akinbo screamed. Fred had committed suicide.

“ Take care of my kids!” Akinbo saw the note in Fred’s hand.

Favour had instructed Chuks to help her open Akanbi's mouth. Chuks had to forcefully do so... Favour took the Cup of Water and added a pinch of Salt.

Tina wondered why the pinch of salt, but she remembered her grandmother had told her as a child, that salt was a purifying agent.

" I turn this water and salt mixture to the purifying blood of Jesus. As I give it to you, you are purified of all poisonous substances in your body in Jesus name...!" Favour declared

TeaSpoon by TeaSpoon, she put the water through Akanbi's forcefully opened mouth.

She kept giving him the water for few minutes, but nothing happen.

" He will wake up! " Favour assured the others.

" Wake up now in the name of Jesus Christtttt!" Favour screamed out loud like a desperate mother....

It felt like that was what Akanbi was waiting for, the moment Favour ended that statement, Akanbi coughed out and threw up a terribly smelly yellowish vomitous. It was so much it could fill up a mini bucket! Akanbi managed to open his eyes and the only person he saw was Favour looking very beautiful..

" T...ha...n..k you!" Akanbi said because he knew when he died, he saw how his spirit left his body. He was about following an angelic woman but he saw Favour discussing something inaudible with her. He watched how the angelic woman left thereby giving him another chance in life.

" Thank you!" He said more clearly...Chuks, Tina, and Gambo could not contain their happiness...They screamed so loud...

" What is happening?" Nneka asked Joy without opening her mouth.

They were all together in the room with other girls,but without opening their mouths, they were about to have conversations.

" I killed Akanbi...he was about to sell us out!" Joy said triumphantly

" You did what?" Tunrayo asked in surprise

" Exactly what you heard. Please I need silence, I need to restrategize since we have lost our bait," Joy said referring to Akanbi as the bait

" Everyone...come down to hall, a miracle just happened, Akanbi Damino died and he has come back to life.." Gambo said at the entrance of the room.

She left the doorway to share the news to other rooms.

The five ladies looked at one another. The other girls in the room rushed out leaving the five girls behind.

" We need to get out of here now... We will be fried! Akanbi will expose us!" Joy said jumping from the bed...

" I am going nowhere. Don't you guys see it? God's power is stronger than what we have been introduced into at the SCA. This is our chance of escape..." Tunrayo said

" Escape to where? To Christianity...Tunrayo, I don't know your real story, but listen to mine..My father is a Pastor, and in search for powers for Miracles, he started raping me at the age of six. Favour rose up carefully, as Chuks rushed towards Akanbi...

“ No, Lord please! Please Lord, Have Mercy on him, you didn’t bring him here to kill him. Whatever error he has committed, Let Mercy Speak for him.” Chuks cried unto the Lord.

Chuks suspected God slaughtered him for whatever wickedness he must have done against Favour...

Favour walked close to Akanbi’s dead body. She was numb...

“ Was Akanbi meant to be her husband? God killed him to punish her?” Favour didn’t understand that complexity...

She was lost for words. She sat beside Akanbi’s body in tears... Her lips felt heavy, Her heart was heavy as well. She couldn’t even ask for Mercy, she was just overwhelmed by What was happening...

Tina moved around thinking on what to do... She loved discerning What God wanted of her...

“ Mercy!” Tina heard in her Spirit

“ Favour, look at me... I don’t know what is going on in your mind, but look into my eyes and listen... What we need is the Mercy of God.”

“ He is the dead!” Favour managed to say. She couldn’t tell why she in deep sorrow; was it because She lost a soul or she lost the man who ought to be her husband...

Chuks was also heartbroken; He couldn’t comprehend why a new convert would die under his watch.

Tina realized she was the only person who was in the right frame of mind...

Tina saw a flash of arrows targeted at Favour but Akanbi stood in front of Favour and took the arrows...

Tina knew it didn’t make sense telling Favour what she saw, instead she walked to Where Akanbi laid on the floor...

“ Arrow of death Fired against you from the Pit of Hell, backfire in the name of Jesus “ Tina prayed laying her hand on Akanbi’s stomach.

On touching Akanbi’s stomach, Tina withdrew her hand immediately as his stomach was blazing hot.

“ Poison!” Favour heard and she voiced it out immediately to Tina...

“ Poison! I heard Poison!”

“ Obviously! You should touch his stomach...” Tina said

Chuks and Favour touched the stomach in turns. They withdrew their hands immediately...

“ This is no ordinary poison! This must be a Spiritual poison! Who poisoned him ?” Chuks said

Favour was quiet, she didn’t know what to think. Was it God who put the Spiritual poison as a punishment for her or was the Spiritual poison an attack she could have knocked off with the prayers?

Chuks got mad in the Spirit... Likewise Tina knew the attack was familiar... But she couldn’t place her hand on it...

“Favour, you can’t go weak on me... You have more Spiritual power than us... You have the authority to bring back Akanbi...” Tina said

Favour looked at Tina, she couldn’t stop her tears. How could she tell them that God had spoken to her... How could she tell them her disobedience had caused Akanbi’s death. How could she tell them,God had spoken!

“ It’s too late!” Favour managed to say

“ Too late?” Tina asked “ Favour, what do you know that you are not saying to me! Did God say it is over!”

“ Hun Hun!” Favour said quietly....

Tina sat on the floor... Chuks sat on the chair. It all still looked like a dream. He remembered Akanbi kneeling before him a while ago...

“ When God Says No at a time, He can still say Yes minutes later. He told Abraham to slaughter his son, and in few minutes He told him not to. He said Hezekiah would die, but not less than an hour, He changed his mind!” Gambo said from the doorway...

Kenneth was staying in Favour’s office, waiting for Favour who was called out by Chuks. His Wife, Mercy had gone in to meet some of the girls in the Lighthouse.

Kenneth couldn’t stop thinking about MR Akanbi Damino...

He suddenly had a feeling Akanbi won’t fulfil his promise...

“ God, please in your Mercy, Help Akanbi Damino to fulfil his Promise to the Lighthouse. Whatever that Might want to hinder him from giving to the Lord, Please take it away from His life. He will not fall sick and He won’t die. Father, you know the Lighthouse needs a property to build a school that will be a place to reform lives. Help him to fulfil his promise unlike the Man Who promised us earlier...” Kenneth spoke to the Lord unknown to him what was going on....

Chuks also caught the Light of that revelation where he knelt praying to the Lord. He remembered Dorcas who died and based on the goodwill she had done, people interceded for her...

“ God, if not for anything, remember what Akanbi Damino was about to do for Lighthouse. Please, just like Hezekiah presented his good works before you, just like the people presented Dorcas’ giving before you, please Lord, I present Akanbi’s good intention of giving the Lighthouse a property. Bring him back to life that he might fulfil this promise...” Chuks said Loudly....

Favour was taken aback by that... She didn’t know about Akanbi wanting to give them a property...

“ He wanted to give us a property?” Favour asked

The Angel of Death stood by Akanbi ready to take him away, but she saw Favour, Tina and Chuks protecting him...

“ I need to take him!” The Angel of Death said

“ He can’t leave! “ Favour replied

The Angel looked up suddenly.... She heard a command

“ Replace him with the one who refused to give her property! His giving has given him back his life!” A LOUD VOICE THUNDERED

The Angel bowed at the voice... and looked at Favour...

“ Give him a glass cup of Water and Salt!”

“ How can I give a dead man water...!”

“ Just do as I have said! Peace!” The Angel disappeared

Favour saw it .... She snapped out of her revelation....

“Get me Salt and Clean Water” Favour said to Tina but Gambo ran off to get it....

Bolaji felt a strong presence in her room...

“ Who is there?”

“ What Shall it profit a man if he gains the whole world and loses his soul!” A voice said to BOLAJI

“ Nurse! “ BOLAJI tried to call out but her voice was going no where....

“ Where is the money you were trying to keep by not giving your property to the Lighthouse?” The voice asked again

“ I have spent all on my sickness!”

Silence.....

BOLAJI felt chills in her spine... Something terrible was about to happen to her and she knew it...

“ God, Forgive me... Please I am sorry for being selfish with my resources, it’s because of the humble beginning I had while growing. I always want to keep and hoard everything. Forgive me, please don’t let me die!” Bolaji said soberly.

" Mummy...Daddy says he doesn't have money to send anymore. He said the cash he borrowed from Lawyer Akinbo is finished.”

Ife noticed her mother didn't make her usual sound that recently had become her language of communication.

" Mum, Mum...MUM!" Ife screamed and ran towards her mum....

Bolaji flatlined...

The nurses rushed and shoved Ife out of the room....
