NEWS RELEASE: Governor Adeleke Issues Red Alert on School and Rural Security, Announces Major Reforms

NEWS RELEASE: Governor Adeleke Issues Red Alert on School and Rural Security, Announces Major Reforms

•Summons State Security Council Meeting

● Amotekun Billed for Reorganisation

Governor Ademola Adeleke has raised alarm over threat to peace and security within the state school system and rural farm communities, summoning a meeting of the state security council and announcing major security reforms.

In a statement issued on Tuesday morning, the Governor made reference to intelligence snippets of deliberate mobilisation of criminal elements to the rural areas of the state, stressing that such reports are alarming and pose serious concerns to the well being of Osun people.

The Governor noted that the administration is worried about reports that those behind the plot are targeting disruption of farming activities through kidnappings and attacks on rural farm settlements.

It was further revealed that schools are being targeted with abductions and attacks as a way of distracting from the implementation of the safe school initiative and the multi-billion naira infrastructure plan.

Governor Adeleke noted that while a meeting of the state security council has been summoned, preliminary directives have been issued to school authorities to take precautions to enhance the safety of pupils and students.

The Ministry of Education and all education agencies have been ordered to review safety measures in Osun schools in line with the safe school initiative.

In specific terms, school principals and heads are expected to clear overgrown school environments and ensure close liaison with the Parents and Teachers Association to secure their school environments.

The Governor further directs the Food Security Committee to submit an interim report to allow for immediate actions to safeguard farm security and secure farmers as the rainy season knocks on the door.

According to the Governor, we expect the initial report to contain practical and implementable measures to safeguard our farming communities through closer integration and mobilisation of the local hunters and forest rangers.

The Governor further announced his plans to embark on major reforms of the Amotekun security force, frowning at the internal rivalry, opposition penetration and external intervention that are negatively affecting the operation of the Amotekun force.

The Amotekun , the Governor noted, is to be reorganized to make it a truly efficient force to complement the efforts and operation of the police and other security agencies.

He assured the public that his administration has taken preemptive steps to secure our schools and farming communities, describing Osun as a peaceful state which will not succumb to attempts to destabilize the peace and harmony among our people.

“I have summoned a meeting of the State Security Council to firm up all plans. I assure our people that I am on top of the situation. We are committed to securing our schools, our farm and our society."

“No stone will be left unturned to disrupt plans of enemies of progress to plunge the state into crisis. I urge members of the public to inform security agencies of any unusual movement or activities across the state”, Governor Adeleke was quoted as saying.

Spokesperson to the State Governor.

Nigeria, a Taliban loading - Dele Abiola

The Bandits attacked the Nigerian Defense Academy, Afaka, Kaduna killing at least two Personnel of the Nigerian army.

The Bandits also abducted at least one other personnel according to an NTA reports on Tuesday.

The Nigerian army has embark on search and rescue operation to secure the personnel from the Bandits. The bandits attacked the barracks around 1am on Tuesday morning.

It was learnt that the bandits invaded “in their large number” and shot dead two officers identified as Lieutenant Commodore Wulah and Flight Lieutenant CM Okoronwo.

It was an an onslaught on the country’s foremost military training institution.

They also abducted Major Datong while 2Lieutenant Onah sustained gunshot injuries and currently receiving treatment, SaharaReporters was told.

While reacting to the incident, Comrade Dele Abiola said the gospel truth about the insecurity in the land is that we're no longer dealing with mere bandits and banditry again but a full blown terrorism and the government and authorities looked other ways for their only God's known reasons.

"It's unfortunate that General Muhammadu Buhari led APC federal government whose actions and body language are absolutely that of a pro terrorists has failed to demonstrate capacity to tame insecurity."

"Fulani Herdsmen terrorism and banditry are the creations of APC in Nigeria. Every reasonable person must wonder what is still keeping Buhari regim from declaring the Bandits a terrorist group and speak to them in the language they will understand or maybe they are not IPOB members."

"Nigeria is just a Taliban loading where Bandits shot down Nigeria jet fighter, attacked Nigeria Defense Academy , kill two officer and kidnapped one. Yet , the pro criminal Govt tagged them being criminal doing business and that they are not terrorist." He concluded.

Omoyele Sowore: Nigerian media did not allow interviews with great ideas during 2019 Presidential Election (plus Video)

Omoyele Sowore: Nigerian media did not allow interviews with great ideas during 2019 Presidential Election (plus Video)

Sowore

The presidential candidate of the African Action Congress AAC in the 2019 general election Omoyele Sowore has said the Nigerian media did not allow interviews with great ideas during 2019 Presidential Election!

According to the founder of Sahara Reporters,  "the owner of Channels Television ganged up with some NGO people to deny us a spot on the Presidential Debate, NTA only allowed one interview or so (on one occasion NTA cut off live broadcast of a debate I was involved in), AIT Online allowed one or two interviews, TVC only let me come on two shows ( the reporters there told us their owner made it clear I am not allowed on air on their facilities), only Nigerian Info WAZOBiA allowed unfettered access in the electronic sector."

Sowore said: "Major newspapers avoided us and when they would report about us they only did to spite."

"However, the two major failed parties - APC and PDP were hosted every minutes, they polluted the airwaves with airheads and talking heads who repeatedly said nothing new, no hard questions, the media shielded Muhammadu Buhari from scrutiny."

"Meanwhile, as you could see in this interview ideas - lifesaving ideas-were flowing. We maintained consistent explanations, in the simplest and basic forms,  how to lead Nigeria into Peace, Security, Progress and Prosperity."

"They turned around stole some of those ideas but today we are stuck, the economy is in shambles. National Debt has  risen to an unbelievable and unsustainable level."

"Children are not safe in our schools. Farmers can’t go to their farms, people can’t even worship in peace, no where is safe and yet the locusts are gathering again and our youths are falling for their antics!!! #RevolutionNow"
