Illegal forfeiture of Sowore's phones: Lawless DSS to pay #2m, apologize in two national dailies within 30 days

Sowore

A Federal High Court judge, Justice Anwuli Chikere has on Wednesday ruled that seizure of the AAC National Chairman's mobile phones by the Nigeria's lawless DSS is illegal, and gross violation of his rights.

The judge further ruled that the  forfeiture of phones belonging to Omoyele Sowore by the Department Of States Security Services since 2019 using the subterfuge of  an alleged links with “terrorists” is illegal, null and void.

Subsequently, She ordered the DSS to pay me N2m!

And that the DSS should apologize to me in two national dailies within 30 days.

In Nigeria under this tyrannical regime of Major General Muhammadu Buhari, the various state security apparatus have become instruments of oppression and agents of death against the law abiding but defenseless citizens.

PRESS STATEMENT: THE AFRICAN ACTION CONGRESS (AAC) FROWNS AT THE CONTINUOUS ATTEMPTS ON THE LIFE OF MR OMOYELE SOWORE

PRESS STATEMENT: THE AFRICAN ACTION CONGRESS (AAC) FROWNS AT THE CONTINUOUS ATTEMPTS ON THE LIFE OF MR OMOYELE SOWORE

*THE AAC WILL NOT ACCEPT ATTACKS ON OMOYELE SOWORE AND OTHER PRO-DEMOCRACY CAMPAIGNERS, AS THE NEW NORMAL.*

*WE CALL ON THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT TO STOP PERSECUTING HIM AND STOP THIS OBVIOUS DANCE OF SHAME*

In the list of the new lows that the despicable Buhari-regime has sunk Nigeria into, is the mobilization of thugs through its militia arm, the State Security Service (SSS) and other security agencies to attack pro-democracy campaigner, the Chairman of the African Action Congress, Mr Omoyele Sowore.

It has become trite to see thugs operating violently yet freely in broad daylight, at the Federal High Court premises in Abuja, specifically when Sowore alongside other Nigerians comes to solidarize with Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, leader of Indigneous People of Biafra (IPOB) in the trial by the Federal Government.

It is also not news that these thugs enjoy state protection, as it has been the case everytime he’s been attacked. The last time being October 21, 2021, these thugs attacked Sowore but were apprehended and handed over to the Police by courageous journalists who were locked out of the Court by “official thugs”- the DSS. This happened while all heavily armed security agents looked the other way.

These thugs were then released almost immediately and we can not ascertain if at all they were taken to the Federal Secretariat Police station before being released.

The case wasn’t different today December 2, 2021 as the thugs came prepared to kill. The window of Mr Sowore’s car was smashed in a bid to get hold of him and while he was driven away, other things that could cause harm were thrown at his car. Members of our party in his company were also not spared by these thugs.

We condemn in the strongest terms these attacks on the Chairman of our party, Mr Sowore and we call on the Buhari regime to stop this show of shame it is serving the international community.

While the Buhari regime seeks to normalize fascism, hardship and human rights violation, the AAC through all revolutionary means will not fold its arms on this issue. We refuse to accept as a new normal these brazen attacks on individuals and corporate entities who hold dissenting opinions against the Buhari regime.

The AAC will not watch this slide or wait for another “Government magic” (killing and later denial of killing) to happen to our peace-loving Chairman, as it is now the case of several massacres in the country.

Conclusively, we call on the Buhari regime to pick itself from the dust and accept defeat honourably. It must stop forthwith the persecution of Omoyele Sowore as it is glaring the regime has no case against him.

#ENDSARSMEMORIAL: LETTER TO MY BROTHERS IN UNIFORM - A Poem by Ola Olawale

Tributes and Tears: LETTER TO MY BROTHERS IN UNIFORM

In uniform lies your power

The power to kill and mute

In uniform lies your power

The power to repress

In uniform lies your dignity

The dignity to be human

In uniform lies your courage

The courage to stand tall

If you don't know, know now that

This uniform is a symbol

This uniform is an authority

This uniform is a collective power

The power to protect not to kill

The power to serve not to exploit

The power build not to destroy

But the stories are otherwise

If you don't know

The system has caged your voice

The system has muted your tongue

The system has enslaved your mind

They make you see your brothers as enemies

And your enemies as friends

And fighting, those fighting your battle

And to what ends?

Outside the uniform

Your pains are mine

Outside the uniform

We both live among the

Wretched of the earth

From hand to mouth

The market price and bills

Has no regard for Uniform

Our needs are uniform

The Uniform makes no difference

Your children like mine are out of school

Your graduates like mine are jobless

Our roads are death trap

Our hospitals are mogul

The drop from the illicit

Won't make you any difference

Reason out of Slavery

Think outside the box

Only if you know that

Those you protect are your enemies

Those you murder on order

Are your true friends

Because they speak where you are mute by duty

Dear brothers in uniform

Join the battle for freedom

Not against it

Come to the side of Justice

Move to the side of humanity

Defend your friends

Battle along with your friends

so together we can defeat our common enemy.

#ENDSARS MEMORIAL: Global terrorism carried out against innocent young Nigerian citizens by Buhari led regime

Throughout #Endsars protests in October 2020, the Muhammadu Buhari regime mobilised well-armed thugs to attack unarmed #EndSARS protesters here in Abuja, they were ferried around in Government registered vehicles, some of them mobilised through Jabi Park, they injured and even killed two peaceful protesters.

In Lagos Gov. Sanwoolu gave out official air conditioned state owned commercial BRT buses to thugs to attack #EndSARS peaceful protesters camped at the Lagos State House of Assembly, when they didn’t succeed they mobilised the HQ Nigerian Army to shoot and murder innocent #endsarsprotesters at #Lekkitollgate, that global terrorism carried out against innocent young Nigerian citizens by Muhammadu Buhari, Jide Sanwoolu and then Chief of Army Staff Yusuf Tukur Buratai led to the untimely but brutal deaths of many.

Now the same government is claiming they are worried about “hoodlums hijacking” the #endsarsmemorial. Muhammadu Buhari, Babajide Sanwo-Olu and DSS men accompanying hoodlums are the real HOODLUMS! #RevolutionNow #BuhariMustGo

LAWYERS' UPDATE ON VISIT TO IPOB LEADER MAZI NNAMDI KANU AT DSS HEADQUARTERS , ABUJA

LAWYERS' UPDATE ON VISIT TO IPOB LEADER MAZI NNAMDI KANU AT DSS HEADQUARTERS , ABUJA

The leader of the Independent People Of Biafra (IPOB) has clocked 49 days in Major General Muhammadu Buhari detention.

UPDATE ON TODAY'S VISIT TO OUR NOBLE CLIENT, MAZI NNAMDI KANU AT THE NATIONAL HEADQUARTERS OF THE DEPARTMENT OF STATE SECURITY SERVICES, ABUJA:

I observed our routine visit to our indefatigable Client, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu in the company of my colleague - Maxwell Opara Esq. The conviviality was awesome.

Expectedly, our Client, Onyendu Mazi Nnamdi Kanu was traumatized by the troubling news of the brutal attempt to assassinate me, he was fully briefed on the miracle of God upon my life. Upon his recovery from the shock, he assured me that we are on this earth for a divine assignment and that no man will take our life because Chukwuokike Abiama is always on the throne.

He was further briefed on other disturbing situation /happenings. He frowned at the desperate attempts by the agents of darkness to give a dog a bad name in order to hang it.

Warnings and instructions were well noted because Mazi Nnamdi Kanu have always stood for peace and protection of our people and not the contrary.

He thanked people of good conscience who have refused to be derailed regardless of the prevailing history of intimidation and victimization.

He emphatically urged all and sundry to continue to remain peaceful in their conduct, and always operate within the confines of the law as they have always done.

Mazi Nnamdi Kanu offered special prayers to those who had lost earnings, opportunities, incomes and daily bread in the course of expressing their firm solidarity with him. He prays to Almighty Chukwuokike Abiama to reward them according to their sacrifices Ise.

Onyendu Mazi Nnamdi Kanu emphatically implored his followers to continue to shun violence and never be cajoled or tempted by the enemies of our people into changing their peaceful method.

MNK is in good spirit, and very strong in his convictions. Miracle is really on the way, I will not spell it out here. But note that victory is assured Umuchineke. Do not loose hope and focus. Keep your eyes on the ball and never you be distracted.

Your prayers are working, kindly intensify more of your supplications without ceasing. Chukwuokike Abiama is always on the throne Umuchineke, and He cannot let his children down Iseeee.

Thank you and remained hugely blessed EZIGBO UMUCHINEKE.

I love you all.

End Twitter suspension and violations of the right to Freedom of expression

Dear President, Major Gen. Muhammadu Buhari,

Dear Attorney General of the Federation, Abubarka Malami

Nigerian authorities have unlawfully suspended access to Twitter for millions of Nigerians. They even directed Media houses to deactivate their Twitter accounts. Those actions are clear violations of the right to freedom of expression, access to information, and freedom of the press.

I call on you to ensure that access to Twitter is unimpeded and that no other restrictions are put in place to hinder access to any social media.

When in the streets, peaceful protesters are met with violent reprisal from the Nigerian authorities. Now their online voices have been silenced as well.

I urge you to guarantee the right to freedom of expression, access to information, and press freedom.

Nigerians’ voices matter.

Sincerely,

Oludele Abiola

The regime of Buhari must desist from attacking human rights, civil liberties - Festus Ogun

The regime of Buhari must desist from attacking human rights, civil liberties - Festus Ogun

And I begin to wonder why the same Buhari regime that derives joy in detaining suspected IPOB members without lawful justification is the same that treats Boko-Haram members with respect, courtesy and love.

This morning, I was reliably informed that one Emeka Richmond Ngornadi, a businessman, has been arrested and detained by the State Security Service (DSS) since April 2021 for allegedly making comments on social media in support of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and is critically ill in detention. Regardless of whatever crime he’s alleged to have committed, this is an abysmal abuse of human rights that should not go unchallenged. The SSS itself is a creation of law and cannot continue to act as if it is above the law.

Just last week, news came in that a 21 year old lady has been in illegal detention for over 67 days. Glory Okolie was arrested for being friends with IPOB members! What could be more illegal? What could be more vexing? What could be more scandalous?

After outrage by civil society organizations, human rights lawyers and concerned citizens, the Police shamelessly made a fruitlessly long press statement; making exculpatory explanation of the gross violation of human rights. The Police cannot explain itself out of this messy show of impunity. Whatever the alleged crime of Glory was, she is entitled to fair trial and treatment.

Under the 1999 Constitution, you cannot detain a citizen beyond 24 or 48 hours. Failure to charge Glory to court within 48 hours of her arrest made her incarceration unlawful and unconstitutional. My position is fortified my the sacred provision of Section 35 of the 1999 Constitution. Sadly, the Police, who are empowered to ensure law and order, are notorious for observing the law in breach. This madness must stop if we want a peaceful country.

Recall that I shared story about my client, Mr. Akintunde Muraina, who was unjustifiably arrested, tortured to the point of death, and released two weeks after ransom was paid. About a year after, he is yet to recover from the cruel dehumanization, trauma and abuse. Yes, the madness will certainly be challenged in the court of law, the solace of the oppressed. But, the fatal encroachment of human rights and dignity shouldn’t have occurred in the first place.

Hear me: This house we all live in is on fire and we are keeping quiet as though fire is the sweetest thing ever. Without doubt, our country has gone to the dogs and it has never been this worse.

The regime of Buhari must desist from attacking human rights and civil liberties. You cannot continue setting the dignity of citizens on fire by hiding under the pretext of fighting IPOB members. This calculated attack on Easterners must stop! Human rights are too expensive to be toyed with in this barbaric manner.

And I begin to wonder why the same Buhari regime that derives joy in detaining suspected IPOB members without lawful justification is the same that treats Boko-Haram members with respect, courtesy and love.

Our country remains a risk unless and until we learn to respect human rights, rule of law and the basic tenets of social justice.

DSS is the HushPuppi of security agencies in Nigeria

DG SSS

In Response To Lawless DSS Threat Against Segun Adeniyi and the fact that it doesn’t detain people on behalf of Nigerian big men! These are some facts:

Huge lie! The DSS is the HushPuppie of security agencies in Nigeria. Their directors told me that my detention was prolonged because I reported that The late Chief of Staff to Buhari, Abba Kyari collected N500m from MTN,  then they sent a delegation led by late Isa Funtua to ask me to apologise to Muhammadu Buhari for insulting him on ARISETV, when I refused they charged me to court with stupid charges which they later reduced to “treasonable felony” I met a guy who was released  same day as us who was jailed for 8 months because he purportedly scammed his boss who is friends with the DG DSS and a director.

He nearly died because he won’t eat for 21 days. A guy had his tendon cut because he stole foreign currency from a retired DG of DSS.  Another guy had kidney disease after a prolonged hunger strike because he was opposed to the president of Chad, Idris Derby who is also now late.

What about the case of Emperor Ogbonna who was detained because he had an issue with his state Governor Okezie Ikpeazu (Isi leather slippers). Even in our latest encounter with the #Dunamis5 it was revealed that Dr. Paul Enenche told DSS to detain the five young activists for safe keeping because they wore #BuhariMustGo Tshirts to his church.

Their final evacuation from the church security post was coordinated by a DSS director who was a senior member of his church. It is reason they don’t let people have access to their lawyers and families during detention.

They also make their victims sign non-disclosure agreements after they are released. DSS is a criminal organisation. we need a #revolution to hold all these criminals to account. #RevolutionNowl

The most brazen and recent was the illegal detention of Anthony Okolie from Asaba, Delta state. Anthony was detained for 10 weeks because he unknowingly purchased an MTN SIM card previously owned by Hanan Buhari!

Today is August 5 2021, as expected, today marks the 2nd anniversary of the introduction of REVOLUTION into the political lexicon of Nigeria’s checkered history. It was the first time a group of courageous citizens took on the behemoth corrupt, undisciplined, incompetent, feudalistic and fascist Nigerian political system with the plan to distinctly demolish it to save Nigerians from perdition and possible extinction.  When the event of August 2019 hit in over 20 cities across Nigeria too it took many by surprise such that 5 million people searched and sought to know the meaning of REVOLUTION on google.com.

Today, many of our citizens have gained more consciousness and better political understanding of how a REVOLUTION would put an end to their misery and birth a new era where social and economic justice will be accorded a prime place in their lives.

The struggle for #RevolutionNow slated for today was dedicated to the release of unjustly detained citizens by the regime. We are happy to announce that the cowardly regime led by Muhammadu Buhari has yielded by releasing Shiites leader Ibrahim El ZakZaky, #Oduduwa12 abducted from the home of Sunday Adeyemo aka “Sunday Igboho,” #Dunamis5 arrested and tortured for wearing #BuhariMustGo Tshirts to Church, several #EndSarsProtesters  have all been granted reprieve while we pursue our next intensive struggle to #FreeNnamdiKanu and several other victims of impunity, we commend our commitment colleagues for a job well done!

These token victories would however not eclipse our ultimate goal to upturn the rotten system of patronage, greed, predatory conduct and authoritarianism by the Nigeria political elite led by Buhari.

However, due to the need to have a bigger and larger mass action for this year, it was decided that we would step down today’s direct action and only engage in symbolic activities. A new date will soon be announced for a global mass action against tyranny and oppression in Nigeria. There is no alternative to a People’s REVOLUTION. #Revolutionnow #Buharimustgo

#FreeDunamis5: The courageous youths illegally detained by Buhari’s tyrannical regime at last released from detention

The courageous young people (#Dunamis5) illegally detained by Buhari’s tyrannical regime were just released from detention by the lawless Nigerian secret police, Department of State Services (DSS) after 30 days in detention because they wore #BuhariMustGo Tshirts to Dunamis Church service in Abuja on July 4 2021.

We want to appreciate everyone who stood firmly by these young men and the #Revolutionnow movement during their unjust incarceration-torture and dehumanisation in the hands of Dr. Paul Enenche’s church security before they were handed over to the DSS.

The lawsuit in pursuit of justice for the five revolutionaries will continue at the Federal High Court and administrative sanctions will be pursued against the Magistrate that ignored a superior court order ordering their release as well as the three DSS lawyers who flagrantly ignored the higher court orders to arraign them before the Magistrate.

Their lawyers will also pursue a contempt of court proceeding against the DG of DSS, Yusuf Bichi Mogaji in coming days. Special thanks to the lead lawyer in the case, Barrister Tope Tomekun and his team for a marvellous job challenging the authoritarian regime relentlessly!

Nigerian mainstream media are complacent and complicit in the  quest for state violations of human rights - Sowore

The five young persons arrested by Dr. Paul Enenche’s Dunamis church security and handed over to Yusuf Bichi-led lawless DSS remains in custody after fulfilling their bail conditions.

The mean stream media in the country have seen no need to call out on the anti-democratic regime of Major General Muhammadu Buhari, says Omoyele Sowore on Tuesday.

" Let me say it here that the Nigerian mainstream media are complacent and complicit in the  quest for state violations of human rights by the tyrannical Buhari regime, not because of the people I know who are victims but because they will never raise a finger even when their colleagues are abused."

The AAC National Chairman said: "These days you can count on your fingers how many media outlets would ever report on human rights abuses!"

The Buhari led lawlessness and pro terrorists regime is known for human rights violation and total disrespectful for court and rule of law.

According to the punch news paper: Chiefstrate’s Court 4 sitting in Yola, Adamawa State on Monday, sentenced Youth Leader of the Peoples Democratic Party in the Hong Local Government Area, Ikamu Kato, to one year imprisonment for insulting the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari; and Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha.

The PUNCH had reported that the PDP youth leader was remanded in prison custody in a case allegedly instituted by loyalists of the SGF, under the aegis of Adamawa Concerned Citizens, headed by Husseini Gambo.

Kato was invited and arraigned before the court by the Department of State Services through the office of the state Attorney General last week.

Kato, said to be outraged by the Boko Haram attack on Dabna community, during which over 20 persons lost their lives, took to Facebook, to call out the SGF and Buhari over their failure to secure the lives of residents of his council where the SGF also hails from.

The Chief Magistrate, Dimas Elishama, after taking plea of guilt from Katoon Monday however convicted Kato and sentenced him to one year imprisonment, for the use of insulting or abusive words with option of N25,000 fine.

The magistrate said that the court had considered the plea of the convict to temper justice with mercy, his conduct during the trial, his apology, adding that he would not be left to go Scot-free, but be punished to serve as deterrent to others.

#FreeDunamis5: Contempt Proceedings Filed Against the DG of Lawless DSS - #RevolutionNow movement

We have filed initiated contempt proceedings this afternoon against the Director General of DSS for refusal to comply with Order of the Federal High Court given on the 26th of July 2021, ordering the DSS to release the 5 applicants forthwith.

By dictionary meaning, forthwith means immediately.

They were served with the Order on the 29th of July 2021. Today is August 2nd, 2021, the Dunamis 5 are still held by the DSS in flagrant flouting of the order of Court.

When a nation is slipping into dictatorship, the first feature is that the organs of government will begin to flout court orders.

That is exactly what the DSS is doing today by their refusals to respect and obey court orders. The Dunamis 5 are still kept by the DSS despite being served with the order of a Federal High Court, for them to be released forthwith.  This is our tragedy as a nation.
