OPEN HEAVENS DAILY DEVOTIONAL FOR SATURDAY DECEMBER 17TH 2022: WHEN GOD RISES

OPEN HEAVENS DAILY DEVOTIONAL FOR SATURDAY DECEMBER 17TH 2022: WHEN GOD RISES

THEME:  WHEN GOD RISES

MEMORISE:

READ: Psalms 68:1-4

1 Let God arise, let his enemies be scattered: let them also that hate him flee before him.

2 As smoke is driven away, so drive them away: as wax melteth before the fire, so let the wicked perish at the presence of God.

3 But let the righteous be glad; let them rejoice before God: yea, let them exceedingly rejoice.

4 Sing unto God, sing praises to his name: extol him that rideth upon the heavens by his name JAH, and rejoice before him.

MESSAGE

When God rises, an end comes to every form of torment in the lives of His children because the only enemies He has are those of His children. Sometimes, when God needs to get something done, He sends His angels and they do the work.  However, once in a while, He rises by Himself and goes to do what needs to be done. When God rises on your behalf, all your problem would be over. If you can master how to get God to rise on your behalf over and over again, no enemy would ever be able to withstand you.

You can get God to arise through praise and worship. When you pray to Him, He can send an angel to bring the answer to,your prayers to you, but when you praise Him, He will come by Himself to receive your adoration. John 4:23 says "But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him."

In Acts 12:3-11, God heard the prayer of the saints and sent an angel to set Peter free. However, in Acts 16:23-29, when Paul and Silas praised God in the prison, He went by Himself into the prison and everyone who was bound got loosed.

In 2 Chronicles 20:22-23, when Jehoshaphat led the people of Judah to war, the Bible says:

And when they began to sing and to praise, the LORD set ambushments against the children of Ammon, Moab, and mount Seir, which were come against Judah; and they were smitten. For the children of Ammon and Moab stood up against the inhabitants of mount Seir, utterly to slay and destroy them: and when they had made an end of the inhabitants of Seir, every one helped to destroy another.

God wants to arise and set you free completely, but you must do,your part. Create time today to worship God for at least one hour. Praise Him until you can feel His presence strongly in the room where you are, until you know that He has risen on your behalf and scattered all your enemies. Go ahead and praise the Most High God now.

ACTION POINT

Praise God until He arises on  your behalf and scatter all your enemies.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: 1 Timothy 6- 2 Timothy 4

AUTHOR: PASTOR E. A ADEBOYE

HYMNAL: O GOD OUR HELP IN AGES PAST

O God, our help in ages past,
  Our hope for years to come,
Our shelter from the stormy blast,
  And our eternal home.

2 Under the shadow of Thy throne
  Thy saints have dwelt secure;
Sufficient is Thine arm alone,
  And our defence is sure.

3 Before the hills in order stood,
  Or earth received her frame,
From everlasting Thou art God,
  To endless years the same.

4 A thousand ages in Thy sight
  Are like an evening gone;
Short as the watch that ends the night
  Before the rising sun.

5  Time, like an ever-rolling stream,
  Bears all its sons away;
They fly forgotten, as a dream
  Dies at the opening day.

6 O God, our help in ages past,
  Our hope for years to come,
Be Thou our guard while life shall last,
  And our eternal home.

OPEN HEAVENS DEVOTIONAL FOR FRIDAY 21ST OF OCTOBER, 2022: THE WORD - PART III

OPEN HEAVENS DEVOTIONAL FOR FRIDAY 21ST OF OCTOBER, 2022: THE WORD - PART III

THEME: THE WORD - PART III

MEMORISE:

Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all long suffering and doctrine. 2 Timothy 4:2

READ: Psalms 119:127-130

127 Therefore I love thy commandments above gold; yea, above fine gold.

128 Therefore I esteem all thy precepts concerning all things to be right; and I hate every false way.

129 Thy testimonies are wonderful: therefore doth my soul keep them.

130 The entrance of thy words giveth light; it giveth understanding unto the simple.

MESSAGE:

There is the tendency for Christians, especially ministers of God to put the gift of the Spirit before the word of God in their lives. They want people to see the signs because they believe that it authenticate them in their eyes, after all John 4:48 says: Then said Jesus unto him, Except ye see signs and wonders, ye will not believe.

Such people, therefore, work the gifts more than they preach the word. Any ministry where this is done will not stand the test of time. Everything you do or say must be based on the word of God and you must project it to everyone you meet. God referred to the people he has sent to you to lead as sheep (John 21:15-17) and they can only be led to grow with the word of God. 1 Peter 2:2 says:

As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:

In John 6:25-35, when the people were looking for Jesus because He had power to multiply food, He rebuked them, saying that they should have been looking for the Bread of life - the Word of God, instead. If a person forces a prophecy out when God is not speaking, just because people are expecting one, such a fellow will not last long in the Christian race.

Someone asked me to tell him his future. I asked if he was born again and he said "No". I then responded, "Your future will not be good because the word of God says that it shall be ill with the wicked" (Isaiah 3:11). He then asked, "What if l had said l was born again?" I said, "Then l would have told you that your future will be glorious because the word of God says, "Say ye to the righteous, it shall be well with him" (Isaiah 3:10). Everything must be based on the word of God.

It is the entrance of God's word, not the miracle or prophecies, that brings light to the souls that you are ministering to (Psalm 119:130). If you base your ministry on spiritual gifts rather than the word of God, it will not last. I have been in ministry for over 45 years now, I have seen many ministries rise and then fall, just because of this mistake.

ACTION POINT:

Live by the word of God.

HYMNAL: JESUS MY LORD, MY GOD MY ALL

1. Jesus, my Lord, my God, my all,

hear me, blest Saviour, when I call;

hear me, and from thy dwelling place

pour down the riches of Thy Grace.

Refrain:

Jesus, my Lord, I Thee Adore; x2

O make me love Thee more and more.

2. Jesus, too late I Thee have sought;

how can I love Thee as I ought?

And how extol Thy matchless fame, the glorious beauty of Thy name?

3. Jesus, what didst Thou find in me

that Thou hast dealt so lovingly?

How great the joy that Thou hast brought,

so far exceeding hope or thought!

4. Jesus, of Thee shall be my song;

to Thee my heart and soul belong;

all that I have or am is Thine,

and Thou, blest Saviour, Thou art mine.

OPEN HEAVENS DAILY DEVOTIONAL FOR SATURDAY 23RD OCTOBER 2021: LOOSE AND BRING THEM

THEME: LOOSE AND BRING THEM

MEMORISE:

And he sent them to preach the kingdom of God, and to heal the sick. Luke 9:2

READ: Matthew 21:1-9

1. And when they drew nigh unto Jerusalem, and were come to Bethphage, unto the mount of Olives, then sent Jesus two disciples,

2 Saying unto them, Go into the village over against you, and straightway ye shall find an ass tied, and a colt with her: loose them, and bring them unto me.

3 And if any man say ought unto you, ye shall say, The Lord hath need of them; and straightway he will send them.

4 All this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying,

5 Tell ye the daughter of Sion, Behold, thy King cometh unto thee, meek, and sitting upon an ass, and a colt the foal of an ass.

6 And the disciples went, and did as Jesus commanded them,

7 And brought the ass, and the colt, and put on them their clothes, and they set him thereon.

8 And a very great multitude spread their garments in the way; others cut down branches from the trees, and strawed them in the way.

9 And the multitudes that went before, and that followed, cried, saying, Hosanna to the son of David: Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord; Hosanna in the highest.

MESSAGE:

Today’s Bible reading is very significant to all Christians, especially soul-winners. Soul-winners are expected to loose their converts from the bondage of Satan and sin. Jesus said in Mark 16:17-18:

“And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.”

We are not supposed to dialogue with the devil and his cohorts; all we need is to exercise our God-given authority. Our Lord Jesus said “Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.” (Luke 10:19). As soul-winners, we must endeavor to go after entire households and bring them to Christ. The disciples decorated both the ass and its colt for the use of the Master (Matthew 21:7). Before our converts can be useful for the Master, we must work on them by the preaching of the word. The Bible says “Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all long suffering and doctrine.” (2 Timothy 4:2).

Another lesson to learn from today’s Bible reading is that we must glorify God through His beloved Son. God has given Jesus Christ a name that is above every other (Philippians 2:9-10). This is why the multitudes were singing: “...Hosanna to the son of David: Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord; Hosanna in the highest.” Matthew 21:9

Our Lord Himself said “…..I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” (John 14:6). He said further “Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.” (Revelation 3:20)

Finally, both ass and its colt enjoyed the honor accorded their rider Jesus Christ. When we allow ourselves to be used of the Lord Jesus, His honor will rub off on us, to the glory of His name.

Purify yourself for the Master’s use today, and you will be well rewarded for it.

PRAYER POINT:

Father, please help me to carry out Your Great Commission effectively, bring families and communities into Your kingdom, in the mighty name of Jesus.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: 2 Chronicles 1-5.

AUTHOR: PASTOR E. A. ADEBOYE

HYMNAL: WHAT CAN WASH AWAY MY STAIN?

1. What can wash away my sin?

Nothing but the blood of Jesus;

What can make me whole again?

Nothing but the blood of Jesus.

o Refrain:

Oh! precious is the flow

That makes me white as snow;

No other fount I know,

Nothing but the blood of Jesus.

2. For my pardon, this I see,

Nothing but the blood of Jesus;

For my cleansing this my plea,

Nothing but the blood of Jesus.

3. Nothing can for sin atone,

Nothing but the blood of Jesus;

Naught of good that I have done,

Nothing but the blood of Jesus.

4. This is all my hope and peace,

Nothing but the blood of Jesus;

This is all my righteousness,

Nothing but the blood of Jesus.

5. Now by this I’ll overcome—

Nothing but the blood of Jesus;

Now by this I’ll reach my home—

Nothing but the blood of Jesus.

6. Glory! Glory! This I sing—

Nothing but the blood of Jesus,

All my praise for this I bring—

Nothing but the blood of Jesus.

“But the LORD was with Joseph and showed him mercy, and He gave him favour in the sight of the keeper

of the prison” ( Genesis 39: 21 ) )NKJV.

MONDAY TOPIC: HAVE RIGH PERCEPTION ABOUT CHALLENGES

GEN. 39:19 - 23

Life is a collection of struggles, afflictions and troubles. Often, we believe that all our issues will stop if we

can only over come the immediate challenge that weface. But it does not work that way. Other challenges

are just around the corner when we fix aproblem . Most times, we see this temptation as challenge from

fulfilling our purpose and ministry, rather than the fact that our tem ptations and trials are our purpose

and ministry. God allows challenges to refine a man for his purpose and ministry. These sets of challenges

are just a process in the formation of vessels used and to be used by God. David faced challenges and they

were recorded in the book of Psalms; Joseph seem ed not to get out of trouble everywhere he was.

Apostle Paul’s challenges were what made his epistle a template for us. Be courageous to face every challenge as victory over this challenges will be testimonies for others.

R Re ea ad di in ng the Bible Through in a Year: Mornig - Col. 4, Evening- Psalm 53- 55

OPEN HEAVENS DAILY DEVOTIONAL FOR MONDAY 12TH OF APRIL, 2021: WHY WORRY WHEN YOU CAN PRAY

OPEN HEAVENS DAILY DEVOTIONAL FOR MONDAY 12TH OF APRIL, 2021: WHY WORRY WHEN YOU CAN PRAY

THEME: WHY WORRY WHEN YOU CAN PRAY

MEMORISE:

But Peter put them all forth, and kneeled down, and prayed; and turning him to the body said, Tabitha, arise. And she opened her eyes: and when she saw Peter, she sat up. Acts 9:40

READ: John 11:41-44

41 Then they took away the stone from the place where the dead was laid. And Jesus lifted up His eyes, and said, Father, I thank thee that Thou hast heard Me.

42 And I knew that Thou hearest Me always: but because of the people which stand by I said it, that they may believe that Thou hast sent Me.

43 And when He thus had spoken, He cried with a loud voice, Lazarus, come forth.

44 And he that was dead came forth, bound hand and foot with graveclothes: and his face was bound about with a napkin. Jesus saith unto them, Loose him, and let him go.

MESSAGE:

In Philippians 4:6, the Bible enjoined believers to avoid worry, but to rather present their requests to God through supplication and thanksgiving. The result of this spiritual exercise is in the next verse:

"And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus."

We cannot do without prayers. lf Jesus as powerful as He is, could do nothing without prayer during his earthly ministry, then every Christian must have an effective prayer life. When Jesus got to the tomb of Lazarus, He did the same thing Philippians 4:6 commands us to do: with thanksgiving, He prayed and made His request known to God. Apostle Peter also engaged the power of prayer when confronted with the loss of a member of the Church in Lydda. That prayer of faith brought Tabitha back to life, to the glory of God. (Acts 9:36-40).

I travelled to my hometown not long after I was ordained as the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God. On getting there, the villagers prevailed upon me to look into how the deplorable road leading to the community could be fixed. Humanly speaking, it was an expensive project for a pastor of my means to undertake. So, I looked up to God in prayer, like the Psalmist said in Psalm 121:1-2. A few weeks later, the Lord answered my prayer. He moved the government of the time to award a contract that got the road fixed.

The reason many children of God do not have answers to their wishes is that they have not asked. James 4:2 says:

"Ye lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war, yet ye have not, because ye ask not."

Beloved, God is concerned about your needs. Don't be envious of others who are getting answers. Only prayer can solve your problems. Like the elder brother of the prodigal son, many Christians are zealous in the work of God but fail to make their requests known to Him. The elder brother accused his father of being partial whereas alI he needed to do was ask, because alI the father had was his (Luke 15:31). Don't short-change yourself. Ask in faith today!

ACTION POINT:

Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you (Matthew 7:7).

HYMNAL: Pass me not, o gentle Saviour.

1. Pass me not, o gentle Saviour,

Hear my humble cry;

While on others Thou art calling,

Do not pass me by.

Refrain:

Saviour, Saviour,

Hear my humble cry,

While on others Thou art calling,

Do not pass me by.

2. Let me at Thy throne of mercy

Find a sweet relief;

Kneeling there in deep contrition,

Help my unbelief.

3. Trusting only in Thy merit,

Would I seek Thy face;

Heal my wounded, broken spirit,

Save me by Thy grace.

4. Thou the spring of all my comfort,

More than life to me,

Whom have I on earth beside Thee,

Whom in Heav’n but Thee.

OPEN HEAVENS DAILY DEVOTIONAL FOR THURSDAY 8TH OF APRIL, 2021: YOU NEED THE ANOINTING

THEME: YOU NEED THE ANOINTING

MEMORISE:

And Jehu the son of Nimshi shalt thou anoint to be king over Israel: and Elisha the son of Shaphat of Abelmeholah shalt thou anoint to be prophet in thy room. 1 Kings 19:16

READ: 1 Samuel 16:11-13

11.  And Samuel said unto Jesse, Are here all thy children? And he said, There remaineth yet the youngest, and, behold, he keepeth the sheep. And Samuel said unto Jesse, Send and fetch him: for we will not sit down till he come hither.

12.  And he sent, and brought him in. Now he was ruddy, and withal of a beautiful countenance, and goodly to look to. And the LORD said, Arise, anoint him: for this is he.

13.  Then Samuel took the horn of oil, and anointed him in the midst of his brethren: and the Spirit of the LORD came upon David from that day forward. So Samuel rose up, and went to Ramah.

MESSAGE:

In 1 Samuel 2:7, we see how God can transform an ordinary person through His anointing. There is power in the anointing, and it comes by the Spirit of God. Anointing can turn an ordinary person to an extraordinary one, just like David in the Bible reading of today. However, before the anointing can come on you, you must possess certain qualities. God would have seen that you can make good use of power before He entrusts you with it. Jesus was sure the early disciples would make good use of the Holy Spirit and that was why He fulfilled His promise. We see this in Acts 1:8

*“But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall

be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto

the uttermost part of the earth".*

Beloved, you cannot do any spiritual work without the anointing! Some people think ordination is done merely to confer titles on people whereas the primary reason is for an impartation of the anointing that destroys yokes - First, in the life of the one being ordained and secondly, to equip him or her for spiritual assignments.

This is why all categories of workers in the Redeemed Christian Church of God are always prepared for ordination according to their level of assignment, whether they minister from the pulpit or not. One of my sons explained it this way: When an engineer works in a secular organisation, he does not need anointing.

However, once he or she is engaged to serve in the Church, there is a need for the anointing. This is because the devil knows he now works to pull down his kingdom through the medium of the Church. Thus, every worker of the Church needs to be born again, sanctified, Spirit-filled and anointed, if not, such a fellow would end up like Judas Iscariot. Just as we see in our memory verse today, both the king and the prophet needed the anointing to function in their respective callings. The anointing will empower you to become an unstoppable and indestructible vessel of honour in the household of faith. Press for the anointing.

ACTION POINT:

Purge yourself of all sinful habits so you can be prepared unto every good work as a vessel of honour (2 Timothy 2:19-21).

HYMNAL: TAKE MY LIFE AND LET IT BE

1. Take my life and let it be

consecrated, Lord, to thee.

Take my moments and my days;

let them flow in endless praise,

2. Take my hands and let them move

at the impulse of thy love.

Take my feet and let them be

swift and beautiful for thee,

swift and beautiful for thee.

3. Take my voice and let me sing

always, only, for my King.

Take my lips and let them be

filled with messages from thee,

filled with messages from thee.

4. Take my silver and my gold;

not a mite would I withhold.

Take my intellect and use

every power as thou shalt choose,

5. Take my will and make it thine;

it shall be no longer mine.

Take my heart it is thine own;

it shall be thy royal throne,

it shall be thy royal throne.

6. Take my love; my Lord, I pour

at thy feet its treasure store.

Take myself, and I will be

ever, only, all for thee,

ever, only, all for thee.

OPEN HEAVENS DAILY DEVOTIONAL FOR TUESDAY 6TH OF APRIL, 2021: STEADFASTNESS

THEME: STEADFASTNESS

MEMORISE:

And he that overcometh, and keepeth my works unto the end, to him will I give power over the nations: Revelation 2:26

READ: 1 Corinthians 15:50-58

50. Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption.

51. Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,

52. In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.

53. For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.

54. So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.

55. O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?

56. The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law.

57. But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

58. Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.

MESSAGE:

“Him that overcometh will I make a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go no more out: and I will write upon him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, which is new Jerusalem”. Revelation 3:12

To be a perfect Christian, you must be steadfast; your faith must be built on Jesus, and no one else. This is because Hebrews 12:2 says He is the Author and Finisher of our faith. What you know about Jesus will help you to be more steadfast. Paul understood the excellency of the knowledge of Jesus and thus was able to sacrifice all to win Christ (Philippians 3:7-8 ). What do you know about Jesus?You must know Jesus as the one and only Saviour. There is no alternative to the redemption that He bought for us by His blood, when He died on the cross. You must also know that He resurrected never to die again, and that He is alive today. You must be very sure of this. You must know that Jesus is the Redeemer of both the body and soul, and by His stripes we were healed (1 Peter 2:24 ). I have very many testimonies concerning this. My family was always falling ill despite taking medication. However, as soon as I called on Jesus for healing, illness was completely removed from my home. You must also know Jesus Christ as the Great Provider because 2 Corinthians 8:9 says though He was rich, yet for our sakes He became poor. This should be enough motivation for you never to compromise your faith because of riches. It is God who gives us the power to get wealth (Deuteronomy 8:18 ). It is unfortunate that some Christians have made a shipwreck of their faith in search of so-called greener pastures. You would remain steadfast if you know Jesus is capable of doing anything for you as the Present Help in trouble (Psalms 46:1 ). Galatians 5:1 says: “Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.”

May the Lord uphold you to the end in Jesus name.

ACTION POINT:

Make sure you grow in the knowledge of Jesus Christ and remain steadfast in Him until you see Him in glory.

HYMNAL: CONQUERORS AND OVERCOMERS NOW ARE WE

1. Conquerors and overcomers now are we,

Thro' the precious blood of Christ we've victory

If the Lord be for us, we can never fail,

Nothing 'gainst His mighty pow'r can e'er prevail.

Chorus:

Conquerors are we,

Through the blood of Jesus,

God will give us victory,

Through the blood of Jesus,

Thro' the Lamb for sinners slain,

Yet who lives and reigns again,

More than conquerors are we,

More than conquerors are we.

2. In the name of Israel's God we'll onward press,

Overcoming sin and all unrighteousness;

Not to us, but unto Him the praise shall be,

For Salvation and for blood bought victory.

3. Unto him that overcometh shall be given,

Here to eat of hidden manna sent from heav'n,

Over yonder he the victors palm shall bear,

And a robe of white, and golden crown shall wear.

Make sure you grow in the knowledge of Jesus Christ and remain steadfast in Him until you see Him in glory.

HYMNAL: CONQUERORS AND OVERCOMERS NOW ARE WE

1. Conquerors and overcomers now are we,

Thro' the precious blood of Christ we've victory

If the Lord be for us, we can never fail,

Nothing 'gainst His mighty pow'r can e'er prevail.

Chorus:

Conquerors are we,

Through the blood of Jesus,

God will give us victory,

Through the blood of Jesus,

Thro' the Lamb for sinners slain,

Yet who lives and reigns again,

More than conquerors are we,

More than conquerors are we.

2. In the name of Israel's God we'll onward press,

Overcoming sin and all unrighteousness;
