Leaders and officials in the Nordics are reacting with shock at what has unfolded in Slovakia.
Finnish President Alexander Stubb condemned the attack "in the strongest terms" and said "any attack against an elected politician is an attack against democracy".
Meanwhile, Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Store said he was "deeply shocked" by the shooting.
"I strongly condemn this horrible act of violence. My thoughts are with Fico, his family and the people of Slovakia
," he said.
