BAT'S CHATHAM HOUSE OF ODIOUS SHAME: Tinubu is not the person we need now

A video went viral recently, two days back - my innocent guess - of how a full stadium in Qatar erupted into singing along our exported song before the commencement of a match. If you ask me, it would be an insignificant number of Nigerians among the spectators if we were to do a headcount. If by now you haven't got the drift, this is it. Nigeria is immeasurably blessed! That we have been this endemically fixated on everything retrogressive is because of our ill or cursed fortune of having despicably misfit leaders, successively, for decades. But you would think Nigerians would be wiser to flee from an undisguised disaster waiting to happen, waiting to bear its toxic fang on a vast country. No! It's Stockholm Syndrome.

It was a show of shamelessness rubbing off, not only on Tinubu, on those lackeys applauding the doddering, incoherent relic. It was so sickening to watch, seeing Tinubu directing his lickspittles to answer questions thrown at him by the moderator in Chatham House - Nigeria, please, you deserve better! Not even Buhari in his near-vegetative, addled state ever flagrantly and shamelessly stooped to that sewage level. So from the forego, Tinubu, in his unholy desperation to be in Aso Rock, though from all indications, lacks all the mental stability, moral rectitude, not to mention physical wellness to lead a two hundred million plus people. But all this may not be the worse.

It's baffling, puzzling by every standard that you have a ready army of sycophants egging him on in all adulation as the next best thing after JF Kennedy. It's mentally deflating, enervating all together to see Nigerians who have been at the receiving end of bad leadership, not to mention the tsunami of unrelieved misery, anguish, tribulations and despair Buhari inflicted on us drumming support for Tinubu. It's perplexing! What is wrong with Nigerians?

Nigeria has been stunted, outside population, in all things for decades. Paradoxically, while we have better countries as yardstick to measure the indices of our economic progress, we  jettison theirs, indifferent to the woes that have befallen this country.

Passionately, l beg you Nigerians. Forget all those primordial, self-seeking trappings and do the right thing for this country. Let's remember that a single national fate awaits all, even those living in clover today. This country needs saving; her people do. Tinubu is not the person we need now. The facts are visibly there for all to see. This country has been beleaguered enough. Let's begin to do the right thing for now and posterity. But let it be known that Tinubu is everything a reality worse than today's sordid reality.
