Our is not to cry, Our is to understand. this saying explains why those who understand class and class interest, won't be amazed by the recent move of Fani-Kayode to the ruling party.
The basis of any relationship is interest. when interests align people work together, where there is a conflict of interest, there exist social or civil unrest among or between the conflicting interest.
So at any point in time, when the conflicting interest is addressed, normalcy returns. whatever might have happened before the normalcy was just a means to an end.
Now, a professional politician like FFK is not interested in the pains of ordinary Nigerians or good governance but in his interest. so whoever or whatever platform that can protect or guarantee that interest is or are friends of Fani-Kayode and would be ready to dine with them.
The fight among or between the political elite is not about the people but the struggle for political power that can guarantee or protect their class interest.
So, seeing those he has called trash before his new adventure, welcoming him with an open hand, is not a big surprise, to the few who understand the game of politics.
The lesson, in the story of a man who once said over his dead body and he would rather die than move to the ruling party on a live televised program, is that before we take a queue or join in the debate or struggle for power among the political elite, is to define our interest and know if the brouhaha is about our class interest or not.
like the current fight over which zone should produce the next president, is a fight not for or about the people but the few like FFK, who think their interests are best protected if it is zone A or B.
Solving the common problem is not a question of which zone produces the president but how do we reorganize our social-economic relations, making production about the people.
The current political leader's interest is far from this but to maintain their grip on power.
To continue with the current social-economic relations that make a citizen rich at the expense of ten thousand other citizens.
if where or which zone produce the president brings prosperity to the zone, beyond the highly inflated contract, one or two appointments to their crones, the northwest should be the most prosperous zone in Nigeria but in the reality, it is one of the most backward with a high level of unemployment, insecurity, out of school children and many more human-created problems.
