My intention for this article is not to join in the controversy generated by Tope Alabi's comments on the song "Oniduro mi e seun o..."
I do not know who wrote the song or the sister who made it popular. Really, I'm not a fan of most Nigerian gospel singers. However, I owe my generation a duty under God to educate people on matters relating to God and our commonsalvation. That is why I am writing this.
Who is a guarantor?
Oxford dictionary (electronic)says a 'guarantor is a person or organisation that provides guarantee'.
According to Ivestopedia, 'A guarantor guarantees to pay a borrower's debt in the event that the borrower defaults on a loan obligation'. In other words, a guarantor undertake to pay a debt that the one he guarantees is unable to pay.
Ratecity.com defines a guarantee as 'legal assurance given by the guarantor to pay the loan if the borrower defaults and is unable to pay'.
In the light of all these submissions, what does the scriptures say?
'Now He who establishes us with you in Christ and has anointed us is God, who also has sealed us and given us the Spirit in our hearts as a guarantee'.
II Corinthians 1:21-22 NKJV
'In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise, who is the guarantee of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, to the praise of His glory'.
Ephesians 1:13-14 NKJV
From the above scriptures, it is clear that the Holy Spirit is the Guarantee for our eternal redemption which is our inheritance in Christ Jesus. This Guarantee is provided by God as a seal till the day of our eternal redemption. If God gives us the Holy Spirit as our Guarantee, then God is our Guarantor.
Our debt of sin was paid for by the death and resurrection of Christ and we are sealed by the Holy Spirit, as our Guarantee till the day our redemption will be perfected when Christ appear for our eternal salvation.
Since there is no revelation that is superior to the Bible, the word of God and since God can never contradict His word, what the scriptures say is final.
God is our Guarantor who gave us the Holy Spirit as our Guarantee.

I am of the opinion that Christians should study bible very well.If need be, which is even necessary to consult spirit filled leaders on any issue we are not very clear with it for more enlightenment before airing it to the public. Those who are always out to criticize others should take note.Thanks. If God cannot Guaranty you, who else can? God is ever ready to stand for us as long as we are ready to obey His commandments. God is a good and faithful Guarantor.
