OPINION: NIGERIA AND THE PARADISE OF FOOLS

The governor of Benue State, Samuel Ortom, has mandated his people to troop out enmasse, as they besiege the killer herdsmen with their firearms. He released this statement after all his attempts  to discuss the plight, and insecurity rife in the state with President Muhammad Buhari. He consistently engaged the media on the matter of the president's indolence as to his core responsibilities to the people, not even when the welfare of the collective people had been suffering in his hands.

This might not be a good time for President Buhari (a war general who has been getting lashes from every corner), the lashings couldn't have gone so deep into the flesh but for the reawakening of the minds across party lines.

An APC stalwart has yanked off the veil of his loyalty to his party, to criticize in strong terms the vague, porous and outrightly jejune leadership of the president. A president who salvages his own life by escaping via the backdoor and to the convenience of a foreign country. The misfit has left his country in shambles! If he doesn't proceed for a postponed meeting this time, he is out on an hunting expedition for the best clinical aid another time. These and so many others led to the resonance of a rogue, popular for the sobriquet, Igboho.

Igboho (a stark illiterate) and his unrepentant struggle for the reinstatement of an imaginary era. The guy has graduated the philosophy of thuggery to an imaginary stardom, that jobless Nigerian youths would succumb to a barrage of immoral firings from the sanctimonious agents of destruction. They refused to enroll for just diploma but a degree in IGBOHOISM.

He must have thought deeper than the well by looking at balkanizing an already confused nation, having successfully contributed to the state and plight of the Nigeria nation. A few Yorubas posit that they have never given a damn about a vampire, who consistently drank the blood of their relatives in time past but had turned up to rescue this time. I doubt if such agent would not devour a generation, with his crude, running mouth.

Freedom has never been achieved on a gold's platter, it has to be fought for by those who need it. To break free from what Biafrans calls the zoo (Nigeria), there must be a violent struggle, championed by the oppressed  people. Where are the canisters, rifles, machine guns e.tc.

Igboho has never won with those words. Professor Banji Akintoye did History, he should be able to talk to issues like this.

A reasonable number of Nigerians have chosen to be hypocritical in their thoughts, they harped on so many irrelevant things while the pressing ones are staring at them. Imagine Nigerians blaming the president for not attending the burial of his Chief of Army Staff, one late Ibrahim Attahiru. Come to think of it, a president who has refused to attend Nigeria's Service of Songs! How dare you challenge him to honour a gallant soldier who fell from the harmless air, not even when a whole country had crumbled on him.

Only poor students of History would forget the gruesome murder of those titanic heroes at Lekki, that the heartless government of Muhammad Buhari can deny the gory sights is the height of it. Pathetic! The prestigious Nigerian flag surveyed the world via the shortcut of the internet, in its bloody and tainted state. Only few Nigerians have seen this.

Come to think of it, that ours is one of the most religious countries in the world. We got brave evangelists, whose voices resonated in the convenience of unknown tongues. Seun Adegunsoye, a fanatical christian and student of the University of Ibadan, appeared in the company of her bible at the mosque. Walked up to the chief Imam and told him bluntly, "Perdition to you and your family, if you shall refuse to follow Jesus, the author and finisher of your faith".

A few more Jesus have risen at the suspension of Sat Guru Maharajji's prominence, a popularity he championed via the instrumentality of his Ibadan-based KINGDOM OF HEAVEN ON EARTH. I met one in Akure, fully armed with his microphone. He proclaimed himself the living God.

These generation of youths have fellowshipped when there is a glaring injustice that should be fought via a nonviolent protest, they cannot make good administrators nor teachers of civics in schools. Not even a wink when things are wrong, they just laugh and go with with the flow. This is Nigeria!

I do hope a redemption come speedily to the demoralized, confused and Banana Republic Nigeria.
