COVID-19: WHO Chief says threat of a coronavirus pandemic ‘has become very real’

Director general of the World Health Organization, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said on Monday that the global number of coronavirus cases crossed past 100,000 reports over the weekend in a total of 100 countries.

WHO Chief said: “It’s certainly troubling that so many people and countries have been affected so quickly,” Tedros said Monday at a news conference. “Now that the coronavirus has a foothold in so many countries, the threat of a pandemic has become very real.”

He said that despite the threat, this “would be the first pandemic in history that could be controlled.”
