Osun state Christian Association of Nigeria held open prayer on Sunday to mark the end of fasting and prayer declared by the president of the association, Rev. Samson Ayokunle.
Rev. Samson, on Thursday, had declared a three-day fasting and prayer aimed at praying to God to end the killings of innocent Nigerians and give the government of the day the capacity to overcome the criminals troubling the nation noted that the exercise would end with a prayer walk on Sunday.
In Osogbo, Osun State capital, on Sunday, Christians from every denomination converged at Methodist Church of Nigeria, Cathedral of The Living Spring, Isale-Aro in great number prayed to God to end the spate of killings, banditry, and terrorism in the country.
While the Chairman of Strategic Committee, Osun State Christian Association Nigeria, Rev Jacob Asan was addressing the Christians, he said, "many lives have been lost in this country and the leadership of CAN has called for three-day prayer and fasting which comes to an end today by this prayer.
His words, "Our leaders know that we don't have a gun, spear or sword that will save us from the menace of killing, banditry, kidnapping among others. They see that prayer is the only weapon that can bring changes to all our challenges. We are instructed to unanimously call on God to put an end to all these confrontations.
"If it happened to some people today and others did not stand up to pray against it. Who knows who is the next. We should know that we have been experiencing related incidents in this part of the country. We have now come to the conclusion that there is nothing prayer can't do. God will heal our land when we call on his name."
The president, Baptist Conference, Osun State, Rev Dr. Paul Kolawole in his preaching before the prayer session also said, "God is the God of the oppressed and the God of the oppressor."
"God is on top of all the situation in this country. He's the God of Pharaoh and God of the people of Israel. For God to show his supremacy he allowed Pharaoh to continue with his mischief. today Don't be discourage. God is the God of the oppressed and the God of the oppressor."
"Some parts of this nation you can't practice Christianity and not be killed nor gathered together to pray like this. The people of Israelite in the Bible went through bad times in the hand of the pharaoh."
All the intercessor in this country do not be discouraged, it is just the plight of the moment. God has a plan for time to deliver us. He ended.
