In the first hints of possible retaliation for a US drone attack that killed a top Iranian commander, mortar rounds hit an area near the US embassy in Baghdad. Moments later, two rockets slammed into an Iraqi base where US troops are deployed.

Kata'ib Hezbollah  which is a pro-Iran faction have urges Iraqi troops to 'get away' from US forces in bases.Emergency declared in Baghdad.

Reports says Shia militias in Iraq have instructed Iraqi government forces to stay "at least 1km from any military bases hosting US Forces".
