Listening to the contributions of all members, the Speaker believe that the position that Governor Gboyega Oyetola has maintained by allaying the fear of the people of the State through his timely intervention is proper and deserves the appreciation of all.
In their various contributions, the legislators comparing the State of Osun to other States of the country, all submitted that Osun is still comfortably peaceful regardless of the exaggeration coming from the social media and that the issue of kidnapping is not strange to Nigeria. They implored all the Security Agencies across the State to stand up to their responsibilities; the Immigration Department to control the influxes of people from other geopolitical zones with nefarious intention into the State. The Civil Defense Corps and the Nigeria Police Command to stand firmly on their duties of securing the populace.
The legislators all agreed that the Local Government and the Local Council Development Areas Chairmen should take up the duty of sensitization of the people at the grassroots on the present day security reality of the State.
On their part, the legislators are to liaise with the Local Government Chairmen of their constituencies bearing in mind that the kidnappers and other criminals all live within our communities. The task of flushing them out should, therefore, be a joint venture.
After serious deliberation, the House resolved that the Governor, Mr. Gboyega Oyetola should extend the high profile Security Sensitization Summits that have been held in Osogbo and Ilesa to all the nine (9) Federal Constituencies across the State and that the State Police Command should make arrangement to man all the exits of the major cities of the Federal Constituencies with Armored Police Carriers.
