FIFA Women World Cup: Super Falcons Defeat South Korea to Boost Nigeria's chances of Qualifying for Next Round

The Nigeria's Super Falcons on Wednesday boosted their chances of qualifying for the next round in the ongoing FIFA Women World Cup in France with a 2-0 victory over South Korea.
The Falcons' first goal arrived in the first half when South Korean defender Kim Doyeon kicked the ball into her own net following strong pressing by Falcons striker Desire Oparanozie.

Barcelona’s striker Asishat Oshoala scored a beautifully taken solo goal in the second half after a counter-attack by the team.

Asishat Oshoala was FIFA's player of the match. The 24-year-old, a three-time African footballer of the year, who raced onto the Chidinma Okeke's perfect through ball before accelerating away from her marker and rolling the ball past the goalkeeper.

Norway beat Nigeria 3-0 in their first group match. A draw against hosts France in the next game will see Nigeria proceed to the next round.

Super Falcons have always qualified for every Women's World Cup. However, the No. 38 ranked "all time African women champions" have only advanced from the group stage once in 1993, falling to Brazil in the Quarter-finals.
