Nigeria: President Buhari Addresses Nigerians In Special Interview

Admits fight against corruption is taking too long


The Nigerian President,  Muhammadu Buhari is currently on air addressing Nigerians in what the presidency described as a 'special interview,' tonight.

On Service Chiefs and Security: Preseident Buhari said he depended on records to pick his service chiefs. Adding that "the Police has failed this country."
On Kidnapping and Banditry: The President said, "expose the kidnappers and the thieves."

On His Past Electoral Adventure: The Nigerian President said: "There is no local government I have not visited in Nigeria."

On What He Will Do Differently in His second Term: Ex General said: "I will persuade the Police and the Judiciary to be hard on criminals."

On The Fight Against Corruption: He said, "my frustration is that the fight against corruption is taking too long."

On How Nigerians Can Help Him Fulfil His Mandate: "Nigerians should expose criminals in their neighbourhood so the country can easily attract foreign investors."

On Boko Haram: Buhari said, "we have achieved success against Boko Haram."

The Boko Haram terrorism and menace is one of the greatest security challenges which Nigeria and Lake Chad countries has been facing since 2009. Thousand have been killed while millions displaced in the North Eastern part of the country.

The current reports from various sources including the Nigerian Army indicated that the dread group linked to the Islamic State (IS) are still strong and are regrouping as they overran military barracks in the battle areas.

On Relationship With The Legislative Arm Of Government

President Buhari said, "when the Legislative arm goes around posing like the Executive, there is a problem. I asked Saraki how he feels holding the country to ransom, so I rate the low in patriotism."
