Iranian Foreign Ministry condemns US policies on Cuba

Tehran, May 9, IRNA – Spokesman for the Iranian Foreign Ministry Abbas Mousavi censured Thursday the United States for its hostile policies on Cuba.

Mousavi condemned those policies particularly the one focused on the lifting of waivers on Title III of the 1996 Helms-Burton Act that specifies protection of property rights of the US nationals.
By taking such measure, Washington proved once again that it uses all illegitimate tools for putting pressure on the independent countries, Mousavi said.

Although the majority of the United Nations members annually express disagreement on economic siege of Cuba, the US draws no boundary over imposing new inhuman sanctions against the country and repeatedly breaches its commitments on the issue, the spokesman added.

Expressing the Islamic Republic of Iran's support for the Cuban nation and government, Mousavi called on the responsible countries to take effective measure to deal with the US repeated violation of international rights.
