Jane's 360 reports that the Nigeria-based jihadists of the Islamic State's West Africa Province (ISWAP) attacked various parts of Diffa city in southeastern Niger from 8-10 April with small-arms fire, rockets, grenades, and fighters wearing suicide belts.
Provisional casualties are two gendarmes and four terrorists killed, but a final figure has yet to be released.
Targets included the Diffa border guards' headquarters, the gendarmerie, and Diffa airport, which was attacked by rockets reportedly fired from a Grad multiple rocket-launcher system.
Although these fell several hundred metres short and did not cause casualties.
The airport was similarly targeted by three rockets in March, which also fell short.
