#2023ELECTION - Oyo LP Guber Candidate Akinwale shines at BBC Yoruba Debate

Stamps his administrative and governance superiority_

The Labour Party Gubernatorial Candidate of Oyo State, Hon. Tawfiq Tayo Akinwale exhibited his astute understanding of lingering issues, their peculiarities to Oyo Oyo State, and practicable solutions to them during the BBC Yoruba debate organized for leading candidates of the Oyo 2023 governorship election on Wednesday, December 11, 2023.

Hon. Tawfiq Akinwale Stole the headlines as he charismatically and intelligently replied to questions, giving unique practicable solutions to issues raised.

He further exhibited that he is the most experienced and fit among all candidates in terms of administration and governance given his years in political leadership at the local, state, and national levels.

When asked about issues bothering the security of the state, he iterated agendas in his SIMPLE manifesto stating the involving and equipping landlords, corporate organizations, and religious leaders in the security architecture of the state as a means of initiating a preventive security measure rather than a combative one. He promised that no individual or group of persons will be allowed to terrorize the state under his watch.

He answered questions on education with precise solutions he categorized into three phases which he named: Funding, Infrastructures, and Training of the trainers. He further added that the state will meet the UNESCO benchmark in terms of budgeting for education under his watch. He also reemphasized the need to create vocational skills acquisition centers in the state for the citizens who will be empowered after their training at the center.

Hon. Tawfiq Tayo Akinwale when questioned on whether he prefers to govern Oyo state or Ibadan State following statements at the Olubadan’s palace during the Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party’s visit. He responded stating that he will emerge as the governor of Oyo State which is still constitutionally recognized and will become the first governor of Ibadan State if that is later constitutionally realized which prompted a round of applause from the observers at the debate.

The LP Guber further used his local government administrative experience to lecture the house on the roles of the local government stating that the present government has failed in giving the local government the constitutionally recognized roles. He hinted that motor parks and other infrastructures that constitutionally fall under the supervision of local government will be returned to the local government administration.

Hon. Tawfiq Tayo Akinwale was eloquent in his presentation and appeared the most lively and confident as he received cheers from the crowd on many occasions after his submissions.

The debate which was held at UCH saw candidates of Accord, SDP, and the Labour Party in attendance with the PDP and APC candidates absent from the event.

Hon. Tawfiq Tayo Akinwale urged the people of Oyo State to investigate the antecedents of candidates and never vote for candidates without administrative experience in governance as the incumbent is failing because he lacks the experience to govern citing the current debt profile of Oyo state as a show of shame and wastefulness of the present administration.

He finally reassured the people of his readiness to win at the polls and put his experience into use to immediately savage the deteriorating situation of the state.
