The African Action Congress (AAC) wishes to inform all members and the public of its appeal against the furtherance of illegality under the supervision of Professor Mahmoud Yakubu’s Independent National Electoral Commisson (INEC), which came up today November 10, 2021 at the Court of Appeal, Abuja.
The three-man panel of Justices of the Court of Appeal in Abuja granted our Motion to amend our Notice of Appeal and Brief of Argument.
As a party that believes in democratic tenets and the principles of separation of power, we have approached the Court for a redress against the judgment delivered against the party's leadership in a case which was sponsored by some disgruntled and fraudulent elements who were expelled from the party through constitutional and democratic means.
The National Legal Adviser, Inibehe Effiong (Esq.) while addressing the press today made it clear that victory is at sight and that none of the Respondents (Leonard and INEC) have filed a counter-argument to the appeal.
However, we also wish to state that we are not oblivious of the oppressive and exploitative system we are up against, whose judicial mills grind slowly when it concerns pro-people political alternatives such as ours. But the mill gets overtly energized when it concerns those who have ruined our space and have cornered our resources for the solidification of their political hegemony.
We appeal that our matter be given speedy hearing for the sake of justice.
The National Working Committee of the party led by Mr Omoyele Sowore is confident that the imposters who are mere willful tools in the hands of our oppressors would soon run out of gas, as the people of Nigeria are mobilized against their agenda.
We shall return to the Court of Appeal in Abuja on the 22nd day of February, 2022 for hearing of our substantive appeal.
Onward to victory.
