ENVY: A reminders of what we lack - Femi Ogunsanwo

Proverbs 14:30- "A calm, undisturbed mind and heart are the life and health of the body, but envy, jealousy, and wrath are like rottenness of the bones"
**********************************************

Life is full of reminders of what we lack. There is always someone who is more successful, more talented, more attractive, more accomplished or more advanced in meeting milestones than we are. We encounter these people every day, in fact, they are often our friends, family members, colleagues and acquitances. Sometimes these encounters can leave us with a bitter taste in our mouths and a green glow in our eyes.

Envy is a state of desiring something that someone else possesses. It’s a vicious emotion that can crush self-esteem, inspire efforts to undermine successes of others, destroy their reputation or even cause us to lash out violently. It makes us feel horrible. Na the typical description of bad belle (ętanu in Yoruba)

But there is help and way out of this nasty feeling. If you envy your productive colleague, family member, friend or an acquitance, you may find that you could be more productive yourself if you learned to manage your time better. You may even be able to get a few tips from him or her. Don’t forget to count your own blessings. As the saying goes, envy is counting the other fellow’s blessings instead of your own, whereas God Almighty on the throne in the celestial will give unto you what you ask from him in prayers and supplications

Yoruba people will say "Falana gbo ti ę, ti ara ę ni la gbo". (Mr Falana mind your own flipping business, your personal success, growth and development should be paramount to you)
