The attempt by the combined security operatives of the Nigerian Army, DSS and police to take into custody Adeyemo Sunday popularly known as Sunday IGBOHO failed in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.
IGBOHO and his followers have challenged the unchallengeable FULANI Herdsmen killing, raping and abducting people under the watch of Major General Muhammadu Buhari who is the incumbent president of the federal republic of Nigeria and the Oyo state governor Engr Seyi Makinde.
It took the involvement of his followers, women and youths in the area around Guru maraji in the state capital to void the attempted kidnapping by the state agents.
According to a video obtained on-line Igboho, who is topless, is seen with his men daring the security operatives to “do their worst” before they drove off.
According to a statement signed by a former Minister of Aviation, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, Igboho was on his way to meet with 93-year-old Afenifere Chieftain, Ayo Adebanjo, when the incident occurred.
The statement read in part, “I just spoke to my brother Sunday Igboho. He told me there was a violent attempt to arrest him this afternoon by a joint team of soldiers, DSS operatives and policemen numbering about 40 on the Ibadan/Lagos Expressway whilst he was on his way to see Baba Ayo Adebanjo in Lagos.
“I condemn this attempt to ambush and abduct him. It is not only reckless but also very dangerous. If the security agencies want to see him all they need to do is to invite him to their office. I am not aware of any crime that he has committed and I urge restraint on all sides.
“Let me also send a warning to the Federal Government that Sunday Igboho is a hero to millions of Yoruba and either killing him or detaining him unlawfully would be the biggest mistake they could make. Building bridges, dialogue and the pursuit of peace is better than intimidation, threats, violence and war. A word is enough for the wise.”
Herdsmen in south western parts of the country have been alleged to have been committing series of atrocities and crimes which includes but not limited to killing of prominent king and notable individuals, Raping and kidnapping for ransom, farm land trespassing and destruction of crops.
The state of Insecurity in the country has really called for individuals' and group self defense under the failed leadership of president Buhari and the governor's who are only working the bidding of the Presidency to preserve certain criminals as sacred cows.
President Buhari led federal government have been negotiating with bandits and terrorists since the inception of the administration in 2015 but have ordered the killing of the peaceful Protesters, illegal determination and arrests without obeying court injunctions.
