Local sources in the Al-Hasakah countryside as reported by Press TV and AMN confirmed that the U.S. military has set up a new airport to reinforce its presence in northeast Syria. The airport is reportedly in the area between the village of Umm Kahif and the grain silos of Tel Alo, which are 8 km south of Al-Yaroubiyah.
The sources said military and logistical equipment were brought to the new installation, which now has newly erected concrete barriers and barracks for the U.S. forces there.
The American forces, along with the US-sponsored Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), brought in equipment and logistic materials and set up buildings there. Furthermore, they constructed an asphalt road leading to the silos.
According to the report, the SDF, which is mainly composed of Kurdish militants, is tightly guarding the area surrounding the silos.

In a related context, civil sources told a SANA reporter that a U.S. military convoy consisting of ten trucks loaded with military and logistical equipment, accompanied by eight military vehicles, traveled to the Tel Baidar base in the northern Hasaka countryside, indicating that the convoy was coming from Qamishli in order to reinforce and increase the fortifications within the base.
Lastly, the U.S. military forces introduced in the past few months, thousands of trucks loaded with weapons and military equipment and logistics to the Al-Hasakah countryside to strengthen its presence in the Syria’s Al-Jazeera region.
The Pentagon claims the move aims to “protect” the fields and facilities from possible attacks by the Takfiri Daesh terrorist group. But Trump himself has said Washington pursues economic interests in controlling the oil fields.
A military coalition, led by the US, has been conducting purported airstrikes against what are said to be Daesh targets inside Syria since September 2014 without any authorization from the Damascus government or a United Nations (UN) mandate.
