Russia's daily rise in cases passes 1,000

Over 50% of new coronavirus patients in Moscow are under 45 years of age


The number of coronavirus cases in Russia rose by more than 1,000 for the first time to reach 7,497 in the past 24 hours, the country's crisis response centre said.

The number of reported cases rose by 1,154 while deaths rose by 11 to 58, the centre said

494 people have recovered from the coronavirus. 

"A total of 7,497 coronavirus cases have been registered today in 81 regions in the Russian Federation. Over the past day, 88 people have been discharged after recovering. To date, 494 people have recovered. Eleven patients have died over the past day and 58 over the entire period in Russia," the crisis center said.
Fatalities have been reported in Moscow (2), the Moscow Region (5), the Krasnodar Region (1), the Buryatia Republic (1), the Primorsky Region (1) and the Irkutsk Region (1).
According to TASS, Only four Russian regions - the Nenets Autonomous Region, Tuva and Altai Republics and Chukotka - have not recorded the coronavirus cases so far, according to the report. 
The latest data indicated that 697 new coronavirus cases have been registered in Moscow and the total number in the Russian capital is 5,181. 

Other cases have been reported in 42 regions. Among them is St. Petersburg (69), the Moscow Region (67), the Bryansk Region (32), the Kaliningrad Region (29), the Stavropol Region (19), the Penza Region (19), the Khanty Mansi Autonomous Region (19) and Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Region (19).

Over the past day, 16 people have been discharged in Moscow, 13 in the Moscow Region, 12 in the Chechen Republic, nine in the Sverdlovsk Region, five in the Voronezh Region and four in the Nizhny Novgorod, Kirov and Sakhalin Regions.

Three people have left hospitals in the Kaliningrad Region, Yakutia and Orlov Regions, two in the Perm, Kostroma and Chelyabinsk Regions and Tatarstan and one in the Krasnodar, Tambov and Belgorod Regions and the Mordovia Republic.

With Some 69 new coronavirus cases reported in St. Petersburg, the number of novel virus cases in St. Petersburg alone over the past day has risen by nearly 30%, reaching 295, and three patients have died, the city’s anti-coronavirus crisis center reported on Tuesday.

"Some 69 new coronavirus cases have been recorded. There are 295 cases of COVID-19 in St. Petersburg since the start of the pandemic," the crisis center reported. On April 6, Russia’s second largest city reported 226 coronavirus cases.

The number of recoveries from the coronavirus has also risen. Four more patients have recovered and the total number has grown to 36. Three people have died.

Over the past day, nearly 7,000 people have been tested for the coronavirus in St. Petersburg, and some 9,000 people have been self-isolated.

Meanwhile, almost 700 new coronavirus cases have been recorded in Moscow over the past 24 hours, more than 50% of them are under 45 years of age, Moscow’s anti-coronavirus crisis center reported on Tuesday.
A total of 697 new coronavirus cases have been confirmed in the Russian capital.

"As many as 47.5% of new patients are people aged between 18 and 45, 34% are aged between 46 and 65 and another 14.5% are aged over 65, more than 5% of them are over 80 years old," the crisis center said.

It noted that all patients and all those who had contact with them were under medical supervision. Only 4% of the newly-infected people have returned from abroad recently.

Generally in Russia, a total of 7,497 coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Russia, with 494 patients having recovered from the virus. The country’s latest data indicates 58 fatalities nationwide.
