#COVID19: Oyo lawmakers donate 30% of their salaries, allowances to support Civil servants

Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin
The Lawmakers in Oyo state have reached a consensus with the Governor of the state Engr. Seyi Makinde to donate the 30% of their total month;y income including salaries, allowances and other emoluments to support the state as the allocations form the Federal government dropped following the harsh imparts of the coronavirus on the Nigeria economy that is absolutely crud  oil dependant.

The Speaker of the state Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin made this known on Monday.

@Adebo_ogund
As #COVID19 pandemic bites harder on the global economy leading to drastic drop in oil price & about 60% drop in federal allocation to States, @oyoassembly lawmakers are donating 30% monthly income to civil servants' salaries effective from April.

The 30% deduction includes both their salaries &other monthly allowances. This sacrifice will be made by political office holders @oyostategovt to ensure the regular payment of civil servants' salaries is not affected irrespective of the economic situation of the State.
The agreement was reached when Governor @seyiamakinde met with the @oyoassembly lawmakers at government house, at the weekend.

This is a pace-setting act of humanity & responsibility shown by the Oyo State House of Assembly, taking the lead among every other HoA. A donation of 30% monthly income (salaries & allowances) to brace up the high drop in Federal Allocations is so thoughtful.
