COVID-19: Russia to produce 6,000 ventilators in next three months

Russia is set to produce 6,000 ventilators in the next three months with a plan to manufacture at least 500 this month.

According to Deputy Industry and Trade Minister Sergei Tsyb, Russia has plans to produce 6,000 ventilators in the next three months, and 500 will already be manufactured in April, he told reporters on Saturday.

"In April, about 500 ventilators are to be produced and supplied. In May, the number will grow to 2,500 ventilators. By June, we are planning to make 3,000 ventilators from the point of view of production volumes," he said.

Currently, Russia has 4,731 coronavirus cases which have been confirmed, with 333 patients having recovered from the virus as Moscow handles the bulk of the cases (3,357).

The country’s latest data indicates 43 fatalities nationwide.
