Iranian Supreme Leader says hearts of Muslims worldwide are broken due to massacres committed against India’s Muslims

Iranian Supreme leader Imam Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has said the Muslims around the world are heartbroken over the massacre of Muslims in India.

He charged the the Government of India to stop the extremist Hindus and their supporters and stop the massacre of Muslims and save themselves from being left alone in the universe.

Khamenei.ir @khamenei_ir · : The hearts of Muslims all over the world are grieving over the massacre of Muslims in India. The govt of India should confront extremist Hindus & their parties & stop the massacre of Muslims in order to prevent India’s isolation from the world of Islam.

Violence broke out last week between mobs of Hindus and Muslims over a citizenship law.

According to an AFP reports, at least over 200 people were injured and 33 killed since late Sunday in clashes that saw mobs of Hindus and Muslims fight running battles, armed with swords and guns.

Thousands of properties and vehicles were touched in the violence.

The victims are a roughly even mix of Hindus and Muslims, based on their names.

The unrest is the latest bout of violence over Prime Minister Narendra Modi's citizenship law, which triggered months of demonstrations that turned deadly in December.

Critics say Modi wants to turn the officially secular country into a Hindu state.

Many of the 200 million Muslims in India fear the citizenship law -- combined with a mooted citizens' register -- will leave them stateless or even sent to detention camps.

Last week, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan also raised the alarm  against "massacres" of Muslims in India.

He said: "India right now has become a country where massacres are widespread. What massacres? Massacres of Muslims. By who? Hindus," Erdogan said during a speech in Ankara after violence broke out between mobs of Hindus and Muslims over a citizenship law last week.

Today Imam Khamenei called on PM Modi to stop the extremist Hindus and their supporters from further attacks.
