First coronavirus case confirmed in Moscow

Russian authorities on Monday confirmed the first case of coronavirus in Moscow, saying the patient had recently returned from Italy.

The patient had recently returned from Italy, according to a statement quoted by Russian news agencies. 

He reportedly fell ill on February 21 while on vacation in Italy, and returned to Russia on February 23. 

He later sought medical help when he noticed signs of a respiratory infection, and was hospitalized on February 27.

Two Chinese citizens in Russia were also infected and treated in Siberia.
