COVID-19: Trump says 'Fake news media' making US look bad amid virus spread

President Donald Trump on Sunday said "fake news media is doing everything possible" to make Washington look bad as country steps up efforts to contain the spread of coronavirus.

Trump said in a tweet:  "We have a perfectly coordinated and fine tuned plan at the White House for our attack on CoronaVirus. We moved VERY early to close borders to certain areas, which was a Godsend."
@realDonaldTrump
We have a perfectly coordinated and fine tuned plan at the White House for our attack on CoronaVirus. We moved VERY early to close borders to certain areas, which was a Godsend. V.P. is doing a great job. The Fake News Media is doing everything possible to make us look bad. Sad!

Presently more than 210 coronavirus cases have been confirmed in US.

A top public health official said signs of the virus spreading through the country was "not encouraging" and warned Americans may need to think carefully about attending large gatherings if it continues.

"I think we're getting a better sense [of the scope of the outbreak] as the days go by," Anthony Fauci, the head of the infectious diseases unit at the National Institutes of Health, told broadcaster NBC.

"Unfortunately that better sense is not encouraging because we're seeing community spread."
