This House decision followed the adoption of the report of its Committee on Security and Special Duties at plenary.
Presenting the report on the floor of the house, the Chairman House Committee, Hon. Lateef Oluwole representing Ekiti East constituency 1 said some amendment was made to the proposed bill after clause-by-clause and point-by-point examination of the bill proposal at the public hearing.

Recall that the six Governors of the South Western states of Oyo, Osun, Ondo, Ogun, Lagos and Ekiti had in the January launched "Operation Amotekun" meant to arrest the wanton insecurity in the region as the whole country under Major Gen Buhari (Rtd) battles with one form of insecurity or the other ranging from the threats of Boko Haram, herdsmen, banditry, kidnapping and arm robbery.
Other regions have also been taken ques as the northern leaders and the leaders in the south east are about to commission their security outfits.
The south west conference of speakers in a meeting last week, affirmed their readiness and determination to give the legal backing to the "Amoteku" security outfit as there have been opposing voices both from the presidency and the concerned northern elemets
