67 more coronavirus cases on #DiamondPrincess cruise ship: Japan minister

France announces first #coronavirus death outside Asia

Another sixty-seven more people on board a cruise ship quarantined off Japan's coast have tested positive for the new coronavirus, the country's health minister said.

The new cases, from 217 tests, bring the number of people diagnosed on the Diamond Princess, docked in the Japanese port city of Yokohama, to 286, including a quarantine officer who contracted the illness.

In France, an elderly Chinese tourist hospitalised has died of the coronavirus, becoming the first fatality in Europe, French Health Minister Agnes Buzyn said on Saturday.

France has recorded 11 cases of the virus, out of a global total of 63,851. The vast majority of those suffering from the virus are in China. The epidemic has killed almost 1,400 people.

Three deaths have so far been recorded outside mainland China - in the Philippines, Hong Kong and Japan.
