Saudi Arabia has decided to host US soldiers: Saudi defence ministry

Saudi Arabia has decided to host US soldiers according to the information released by the Saudi defence ministry.

Saudi Arabia’s King Salman approved hosting US forces in the Kingdom to boost regional security and stability, the state news agency (SPA) reported on Friday.

The decision aims “to increase joint cooperation in defence of regional security and stability and to preserve its peace” SPA said, quoting a ministry of defence official.

The Trump administration is sending 500 troops to Saudi Arabia amid escalating tensions with Iran and as Congress votes to limit arms sales.

President Trump is reinforcing its controversial military relationship with Saudi Arabia by preparing to send hundreds of troops to the country amid increasing tensions with Iran."

"Five-hundred troops are expected to go to the Prince Sultan Air Base, located in a desert area east of the Saudi capital of Riyadh, according to US two defense officials. 

A small number of troops and support personnel are already on site with initial preparations being made for a Patriot missile defense battery as well as runway and airfield improvements, the officials said."
