Israel issues 87 administrative detention orders in February

Israeli occupation authorities issued and renewed 87 administrative detention orders against Palestinian prisoners in February, including 37 against prisoners sent to prison for the first time, Arab48 reported yesterday.
Administrative detention is the arrest and detention of individuals by the state without charge or trial. It is applicable on a renewable six month term.
Palestinian Prisoners’ Club lawyer Mahmoud Al-Halaby said that one of the orders was issued against female prisoner Fidaa Daamas, who was sent to prison on 29 May 2018 over claims of incitement.

She was brutally beaten when she was arrested by the Israeli occupation forces, he added.

The lawyer also said that 37 orders were issued against prisoners who were arrested for the first time or rearrested, noting that the other orders were renewed for prisoners who had completed previous orders.

Meanwhile, the Prisoners Media Office said that the Israeli occupation forces stormed the prisoners’ rooms in section three of Naqab Prison, attacked the prisoners and destroyed their belongings.

Prisoners in the Naqab prison have been protesting over the past few days following the installation of installation of jamming devices at the facility.

As a result, prisoners refused to complete their daily tasks including cleaning the units, saying the new devices are causing them severe headaches and as a result Israel is trying to “burn us and kill us through the devices, and we will stand up against them at any cost”.
